A few of the Ions' looked for Fresh men caps appearod on tho campus yes terday morning' junt beforo chapel time when tho Sophomores and uppor clnssmen wero nat on hand to contest the forbidden action. A small body of tho first year mon got trigother somowhero yesterday morning and conceived tho idea of going to the campus in a body and Wearing the forbidden hoadgoar while tno mucn roared aopns anu upper ckissmen wero busy In tho recitation room giving tholr undivided attention to tho "profs." Tho "Freshies" first went to tho 'big rock" and made tholr presence known by giving a fow of their class yells. Tho plan was ap parently unknown to anyone but tho individuals composing the group. No other Freshmen and only a fow of tho other cluBBmen wero In Bight on tho campus at the time. ' After they hud gycn u few yells a crowd began to gather and the 'FreBhies" proceeded to wend their way across tho campus to the north east gate. By this time a largo crowd had gathered and was getting cIobo upon tho heels of tho first-year mon when they passed through tho gate. They closed the gate behind them, gathered tho eight or ton caps to gether and dispatched "one of tholr Meetest" to take them back To safe keeping. They then camo back across the campus, but, although a largo crowd had gathered no trouble oc curred. The general opinion among tho stu dents was that the FreBhmen had not Tjivon tho upperclussmen a fair chance, coming onto tho campus at tho time they did and then retreating bo soon, and that they can not fairly claim to have won their caps on the campus. fIRST NATIONAL .BANK UNITED 8TATE8 DEPOSITORY, of Lincoln, Neb. .
