Superintendent Crabtree of Peru nor mal, who waB formerly connected with tho university as high school inspector was a visitor in Lincoln for the past few days. FROM ARGENTINE. Mr. Marino, of Bueros Aires, Reg isters for Farm Course. Mr. Erasto Adolphus Marino of Buenos Aires, Argentine Republic, has leglstered for the agricultural courao, and enters the school In the thirrl year class. Mr. Marino has been away lrom home three years, part of which time ho spent at the Ontario Agricul tural college in Canada and his work there was sufficient to allow him to en ter the third year course at tho state tarm. He is familia" with Spanish, Ital ian, French, English and his own na tive tongue, Portugese, and ho aims to remain In tho unlvorslty the next six months, by which timo he hopes to I-erfeU his English speaking, after which he will enter the Royal Agri cultural College of Berlin, where ho will complete his degree. He Is spec ializing in agriculture and wishes to familiarize hlmselt with American ag riculture and other Industries and. In tends to return to his native country, where ho hopes to interest himself in now packing house Ind-ustries modeled after American methods. Tho interesting part of Mr. Marino's outerlng the university is tho manuer In which he became interested In Ne braska and what persuaded him to come here instead of going buck to Canada. It seems that he was in Chicago last year at the time of the International Live -Stock exhibit, when Nebraska's prize steer, the "Chal lenger" carried off the honors. He was much taken up by the showing made by Nobraska and coming from a great cattle region as ho does, he was nat urally much intorested in the school that could produce such a fine speci men of live stock. During the sum mer while visiting tho World's Fair at St. Louis, ho again ran across the "Challenger" which has since been killed and stuffed and 4s on exhibit at tho fair. Mr. Shedd, whqjs in charge of Nebraska's exhibit made his ac quaintance and It was duo to his ef forts, together with those of Mr. E. H. Clark, who happened to bo at the fair at the samo timo, that he decided to come to Nebraska. He expresses himself ns being much pleased with the university and thinks ho will be nble to gain much good from hla association with It. There are four agricultural colleges in Argentine, which of course do not rank with American institutions and the govern ment provides for twenty men each year to go to either tho United Statee, Canada, or Australia where they may pin sue studios along these llnea. Mr. Marino la not, however, one of these, as he Is pursuing his course on his own responsibility. Home Made Bread and Pastry.
