The baseball team merits an enthusi astic n reception as that accorded the victorious debaters. It 1b too late, now to carry out any extensive program, but let everybody turn out Wednesday when the team will meet Highland Park and make the game a genuine re ception to the heroes of the diamond. The excellence of the drill exhibited Friday speaks well for the condition of the battalion. The work of each com pany was good. Captain Smoke de serves considerable credit for the way he has brought the men up to a mili tary standard. When he took charge of the department these was discord and dissatisfaction which was very detrimental to the battalion. All this has disappeared and the dissatisfied clement has been satisfied and all this without lowering the dignity of the department. ALL IN READINESS FOR IVY DAY. According to the latest report of the Day commltteo the seniors will plant their ivy at the library building next Wednesday afternoon. Considerable trouble has been had to secure this privilege. Inasmuch as the superintend ent of the building was at first opposed to the planting of the ivy near the new buildings. It now Beems, how ever, that there will be no objection to this, as the members of the commit tee having the matter In charge hate agreed to certain conditions. The program will begin promptly at 2 o'clock and will not take up more than an hour and a half of time In order not to interfere with the ball game that afternoon. It has been care fully prepared and promises to be an exceedingly Interesting one. This has been done largely to make it a strictly university event and will hereafter be so recognized. Ivy day in many of the large eastern institutions Is one of the Important college events of the year and It is very probable that from now on It will be the same in this in stitution. The program will be that published in the last Issue. Every part will be brief in order not to weary the crowd. Probably the most novel feature of the program is the giving of prizes. As to the nature of these nothing will be given out until Wednesday afternoon, yet It Is safe to say that seniors have spared no pains to make this as well as the rest of the program one of deep Interest to every student. The plant ing of the ivy will take place at the northeast corner of the library building. C.LEE CLUB ME&Prffa. A new university organization will be perfected tomorrow night.
