At times no 'small inconvience is c,:uiscd to some students hy tlie less thoughtful ones who appropriate a seat when it is temporarily vacated. Minnesota I'niveisitv is trying the experiment of inning two daily pa pers. The second one ;i organ i.e:i recently and is published hy a st( ck company, tlie shares in which are It 'Id hy students of tho university. While one daily is undoubtedly a good thing, two is almost too many. '1 lie result will nrnl ably tie either the untimely deatli of one of the publications or their cosolidation into one paper. Tlie university owes a debt of gratitude to tlie alumni and to all others who were instrumental in proem inn for it tlie beautiful pipe organ that tlie students are enabled to hear each morning. Tlie organ tills a want that was long felt. Tho presentation of the organ will take nlaco next week and every student who is privileged to hear the tones of the instiument should feel h unbelt' un der obligations to tlie men and women CONB, Tlie Installment Tailor 115 North 11th. It Is Interesting to note that, at the last meeting of tho iNebraslta Acadamy of Sciences, held last month, no small part of the prorgam was taken up by scientific students of the university. Some very interesting papers were read and discussions led by these students. This certainly speaks well for those who are doing nrork hero in tlie university. Soci eties of learning are beginning to real I .o that It is not necessary to wait until tlie student is gray before he can merit their attention but that, often, much is to learned from the young scientist who is not handi capped by old and useless theories and generalizations. DOANI-: CONFIDENT Doarie college won the cup at the state Held meet last year and she in tends to keep it. The following is from the Owl: "Many of the boys are now taking regular work in tlie gymnasium. They have a very hard task before them in retaining the cup which was won last by year's track team at tlie state meet, but wo feel safe in saying in view of tho present favorable prospects, that tho University will be obliged to work if she wins the state meet tills year. ' The junior class will hold its semi annual election of olllcers on Tuesday February 11. Tho contest for tlie presidency of this class is usually a very spirited one Inasmuch as some very important work falls to that ollice. As yet vory few candi dates aro In the Held and it is very probable that the election will pass off without any serious disturbance in tlie university atmosphere.
