students. Not long since two or three
boys were accused of stealing bicvoles

by faculty.
Word has been received at tne Uni
versity of the death of Profossor
Thomas Meohan, a well known botan
ist and horticulturist ol Gormantowh,
Pennsylvania. Professor Bessey was
well acquainted with him, and for
mauv years lias kept up a correspond
ence with him on botanical subjects.
At the time of his death he was
about publishing a paper on certain
peculiarities of the growth. Profess
or Bessey had supplied him with
many observations in tho west.
