pressed on tho reorganization of tbo
oldflaydon ArtOlub tho directors are
pleased to announco that in couneo
Uon with tho Pan-American Exhibi
tion of American artlstB set for De
cember 2U to January 10, an exhibit
of tho best work of Nebraska artists
will bo uivon.
This exhibit is open to all artists
In Nebraska, In oll water colors and
china painting, Biibject to tho follow
ing conditions:
All work must be original, and
passed upon by a Jury appointed by
tho Board of Directors. To savo ox
ponso to tho exhibitors, this Jury will
hold sittings at Omaha, Lincoln. Be
atrice and Hastings, during tno llrst
half of December at dates to bo here
ftor announced. All work accepted
by tho Jury will bo transported to
and from Lincoln at the Associa
tion's expense. These accepted
pieces will ho catalogued and hung
as a part of tho Association ex
hlbitlon. At tho oldso of tho exhib
ition impartial experts will Judgo
tills work and their decisions will be
published in the state papers.
Miss Sara S. Haydon, director of
tho Art School of tho Stato Univer
sity will havo general charge of tho
contest In oils and water colors, and
Mrs. H. M. Brock, teacher of china
palntluc in tho University, will di
rect the exhibit in that department.
Amplication should ho mado to these
women for further particulars.
Tho directors believe that Nebras
ka artists will not miss this raie op
portunity to comparq their woru and
secure competent criticism, it is
tho heginnluK of a now era in a state
hitherto known chiefly for corn, mar
velous agricultural fairs and a noblo
educatlonul system. But these fac
tors of civilization must bo supple
mented by tho onnobhng and refining
inJlucuces-of-4Ut,
Every teacher, every member of our
women's clubs, every educated man
and woman, should bo deoply interes
ted in this attempt to unify and
clovato tho standard of art in Ne
