H. B. Duncanson, '90, professor of
botany and zoology In the Nebraska
State Normal school, was a visitor at
the botanical department Friday.
Instructions were sent out from the
executive offlce to be reaiL, before
classes asking the students to aid In
keeping the campus neat and calling
attention to the waste boxes which
have been put up.
A great amount of material was re
ceived yesterday' by the chemical de
partment It consists of beakers, re
torts and general supplies. Several
hundred dollars have been expended
recently by the department for supplies.

Professor B'cssey is rejoicing over
the receipt of a long-delayed book,
Button's Manual of Botany, for which
his classes have been waiting for a
long time. It was announced as In
the press last year, but did not ap
pear until this fall. It is the first
manual to cover the whole of Ne
braska. Quite frequently applications for
teachers come to the recorder and to
Dr. Luckcy of tho education depart
ment. One came laBl week from a
normal school In South Dakota. A
graduate of the University was pre
ferred, one who had had experience In
teaching and who could teach Latin
and German. Some dlfiloulty is being
had In finding the right person.
