The sugar factory management and
employes are very busy getting ready
for the approaching campaign which
will probably open about the loth of
September Yesterday and today a test
run of the machinery was made every
thing working as perfectly and smoothly
as clockwork The management will
soon begin testing beets to ascertain
their percentage of purity aud sugar
It is probable that the ripening of the
roots will be somewhat retarded by the
recent rains but not to any material ex
tent
Thunder storms are getting to be a
regular feature of the weather A
severe one took place again last night
but it was hardly as vigorous as the one
the night previous and no farther
reports of damage by lightning has
been received The rainfall was 02

Sahue had a whole setting of ten stacks
consumed Five head of cattle belong

struck but only slightly damaged
