Prince Henry may think ho has soon a great deal and knows considerable , but \vnlt nutil ho gets io Chicago. < . The storm kliiR in now Klvlug No- limaka n tonoh of high Ufa not unllko that with which ho has fnvorid eastern nud wcstoru Hootioui ) . The Tobias Kzproes is nomowhnt confused - fused aa io whether Prlnco Uonry sailed on the Kron Prluz or whether the Kron 1'rluz eallod ou the Prlnco Honry. Indications txro that the frazzled end tit February la assuming leonine charao- taristloH to usher in March In a uianuor that will cause it 'to retire with n lamb like mooknoBB of spirit. The Iowa legislators have acquired the Tlllman MoLnurln spirit. This WIIH apparent Wednesday afternoon 'when Jjabor Loader Willis shook hlfl flat mi- dor the nose of Representative Toinplo. There was no bloodshed , however. TlUman's relatives in South Carolina taka unkindly to President HooHovolt's method of attaching odium to flstloulTs in the Honute. It is not unlikely Unit the president will take the omnlty of the TillnmuR as complimentary if they BOO fit to bestow It ou account of his participa tion in the incident. The Iowa seuato has passed a resolu tion favoring equal suffrage by a vote of as to 18 , and the supporters of the movo- incut express ooutldouoo that the house will take similar notion. The lowalegis- lators tuuHt wish tlmttho [ Hawkeye state should bo eternally and overwhelmingly republican , booauBO the Iowa women BTO at least ns strongly republican ns the men nnd the adoption of woman BulTrngo wxrald undoubtedly moan the doubling of the republican voto. Iowa farmers are being worked by anew now graft. The sharpers enlist them as prospective homo seekers in South Da kotn nnd propose to illo homestead claims on the payment of $10 in cash and the execution of a note for $1)0. ) They propose to looato their victims on the Indian reservation in Gregory conn- tyk 'which has not yet boon opened to settlement although a bill is pending be fore congress. Nebraska farmers will do well to pass up such schemes. The NOUFOLK NKWS thinks the offer of the private secretary of the governor , ouo Clanoey , that if good men were sent to the legislature , and they introduced a bill appropriating a Buflloiont earn for an asylum , Governor Savngo would approve it , is an intimation that the governor , bollavos the Madison county Topnblicaus to bo a moss of muddled oaf p. It denies the mild impeachment nnd makes sport of this olive branch of poaco. "No compromise" appears to bo the motto in Madison. Grand Island Independent. In equating itself with Governor Sav age for having republished country press criticisms of his excellency the State Journal gives him credit for having cleared the state institutions "of a host of barnacles. " Ho has , indeed 1 Ho also cleared the Norfolk hospital for the insane of n host of patients who are un comfortably herded in the already over crowded asylum at Lincoln. Ho cleared f1GO.OOO of state property near this oity of the protection that occupancy nud re pairs would have given It , or in other words abandoned it to the corroding touch of tirno and the care of his cousin , Engineer Thomas. He has cleared the etato press of interesting items of public concern emanating from the state house ; and , not of the least , ho has cleared the fair name of Bartloy of the barnacles acquired by the popular belief that ho * ntolo n considerable amount of state funds. Ho also rleurod the penitentiary of the distinguished ex-treasurer's pres ence and cleared the other prisoners of the odium attached to associating with a criminal of his class. Ho cleared the republican party of all responsibility for his actions by ignoring its opinion ex pressed in cbnvontion , taking the bit between - twoen his teeth and dashing headlong to his fate. The governor has certainly made a wonderful record at clearing out barnacles and during the approaching campaign it is not unlikely that the people - plo will take up the one and clear the state house of some barnacles that ho hus overlooked. . The Sioux City Journal , speaking of 'tho Tillmau-McLaurln incident , duds that "nothing comparable has occurred in the senate chamber siuco the assault upon Charles Snmuor , senator from Massachusetts , by Preston Smith Brooks , n member of the house of rep resentatives , from South Carolina , which occurred on the 22d of May , 185C. But nt the time of that occurrence the senate was not in session. The Massa chusetts aeimtor two weeks before had made n characteristic Rpocoh on the Orlmo Against Kaunas , ' In which ho had sharply crltlolHod Senators Douglas and Ontlor , the latter of South Carolina and a relative of Brooks. Following the adjournment of the senate , when Stunner pat quite alone writing at his desk , BrookB entered , nnd after n few words nwmultod the Massachusetts sena tor with n bludgeon. The Hcnator could not readily oxtrioato himself from hln place , and an the blown continued to fall ho sank bloody nnd unconscious to the floor. An effort wftH mndo in the hotiBO to expel Brooks , but the necessary two-thirds vote could not bo secured. Brooks , however , noon resigned , nnd took nppoal to his oonBtltnoutB , nnd was triumphantly ro-olootod. That was forty-six years ngo , at the very begin ning of the llfo of the republican party and of the inauguration of powerful op position to the extension of slavery. South Carolina hna u unique place in the history of the senate chamber. " ' A8K NATIONAL AID. ' Irrlfjntlon Conoresa at Sterling Adopts Resolutions. Sterling. Colo. . Fob , 28.
