fact coutained a note explaining the reason of its emptiness Roy Gardner one of tho employes of the telephone company at this place last evening experienced tho iuconven ionco of having learned a horse a trick which was to be used on occasions when others than the owner should bo dis comfited The animal had been taught that when a boy or boys attempted to catch on to the vehicle to which it was attached au immediate burst of speed was essential and had become proficient in the prnctice of tho trick Last evening Roy had occasion to leave tho horse Btaud for a moment while he was otherwise engaged and when he attempted to cot into the buggy truo to its training tho horso started and when the young man attempted to catch on tho horse put in some of its best licks with the result that Roy was distanced and the animal enjoyed an exhilirutiup runaway It is safe to say that for once Roy didnt think the horses ac quirements were cute a little bit Georgia Eldrego tho colored woman recently injured hero by the falling of a telephone pole has begun suit in the district court ngaiust tho Nebraska Tele phone company for 150 damages al leged to have been sustained at that time According to the Madison Chron icle tho petition sets forth that while she was driving on Norfolk avenue a pole which was being set by workmon fell and struck her on the head neck and shoulders producing a fracture of the collar bono bruising and injuring her head uud body and caused groat bodily pain and mental guttering By reason of carelessness and negligenco in not giving notice of the danger accord ing to the petition the plaintiff bocnftie sick and disordered and was confined to her bed and room for five weeks and is not now able to peform her labors owing to the injury to the loft shoulder J H Stewart A special to the Bee from Stanton says The citizens of this city have raised a cash subscription of 10000 for the purpose of constructing a millroce and water power for running a flour
