Old Settler Meets Death in Well.
While working at the bottom of
a well on the Ben Hobson place

the processiou to the cemetery.
Mr. Bryant was fifty-one years
of age and for thirty-three years
had been a resident of this county.
He leaves a wife and eight chil

Miss Noyes Has Narrow Escape.
1 While bathing in the mill pond
Tuesday afternoon , Miss Hazel
Noyes came verv near drowning.
She is a good swimmer and was
swimming out from the ice chute.
When quits away out her
feet became entangled in the moss
and not being able to extricate
them she became exhausted. Her
plight was noticed by those on
shore and her companion Jose-
phme McLean who was some dis
tance ahead. Mr. Bates waded
out as far as he could , but not
being able to swim , had to stop at
least twenty feet away. Miss Mc
Lean reached her as she went un
der the fourth time and assiste $
her to where Mr. Bates was wait
ing. Miss Noyes did not loose
her presence of mind at any time
and aside from the thought of
how near death she was , is none
the worse off for her experience.
