KANSAS Clfl'Y , Mo. , Monday ,
Nov . 2S , 1904.-'l'hc good total
of 60OOcattlc was received here
last week , just about thc saute as
the week before. This was more
than was expected , and with the
interference of the Thanksgiving
holiday , prices softened a little
on nearly everything , 10 to 20
cents would cover thc loss on any
particular kind , but markets were
slow nearly every day. Of course
the difference between an active
and snappy market , and a slow
dull one , although not called any
lower really amounts to 5 or 10
cents per cwt. , account of lack of
enthusiasm in buyers , and thc
actual shrink that a late sale
mcans. The supply today is 16 ,
000 hcad , which is again more
than we expected and market is
called stcady. There isn't any
good corn cattle comIng now , one
trove last week sold at 55.85 , anl
top today is 55'.80 , but most of
thc corn cattle sell at S4.50 to
$5.25. Choice cattle would sell
at $6.35 or more. Good grass
steers continue at range of 53. 50
to 54.75 , cows and heifers 52.25
to 53.75 , a few droves of corn fed
heifers at 54.25 to 55.00 , veals
55.00 to $6.00. Country demand
for stockers and feeders has been
better last two weeks than for
several weeks , and still holds up.
Speculators were timid last week
but are bidding steady to strong

today. Prices for feeders range
from 53.00 to 53.75. Stockers
$2.75 to $375
Hog market make a small net
loss last week , but it is a hard
struggle for the packers to lower
prices any. Every time there is
a small dccline they cannot con-
ceal 1 their anxiety for hogs , and
salcmen put the price right back
up. $4.80 was top price four days
of the week. Market is 5 to 10
lower todaywith a top of $4.73/
hulk of sales $4.40 to S4)5
Pries here continue to range 5
to 15 cents above the other mark-
ets , account of more competition
among packers.
Mutton market has been strong
and some higher from day to ( lay.
Supply today is heavy at 11,000
head , and the market is steady tea
a shad lower. Best lambs bring
5(1.00 , fed yearlings 55.25. and fed
ewes $4.50. Thin sheep are also
some highcr. at $3.75 to $4.25 for
wethcrs and yearlings , and lip to
$4.75 for lambs.
