Another thing of interest with which the board will deal is the Douglas coal contract. 'I'hc warrant in the coal case has been held up pending an explanation - tion from Doug-las. The way in which the discrepancy in the coal was discovered was by the board calling for the bill 01 lading in order that the weight for which Douglas had filed his bill could be compared with the bill of lad- ing' When the bill was produced - ed it was discO\'credthat theship- mC'ut was .not made from thc mine from which Douglas had con- tracted to ship thc coal but camc from another place en tirdy. In- \'estig"ation was macIe and it was discovered that thc coal received was cheaper than the coal Douglas - las had agreed to furnish. Con- scquently the warrant is held up. f Altogether the meetings of the school hoard arc becoming quite interesting- I Its members arc among- our hl'Rt citizens and thc t i public can depend on their safeguarding - ' g'uardingthc interest of the tax payers against all questionable mcthods. _ Board of Supervisms. The board of supervisors has been in session most of the week. For matters have consumed a great deal of the timc. The com- merial club met with the board \Vednesday and laid its claims before the members with refer- cnce to thc question of good roads , It is believed that some- thing has been accomplished by the club and that the county will participate in improving hc bot- tom roads. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - . . . Marry of our people have arranged for tickets but a number seem unde- cielcd. Let us urge for the good of this class of entertainments in Falls City , that those who have not yet bought , do so at once. Sonic elo not seem to catch the enthusiasm of the rest and it does seem that every man , woman and child in Falls City and in thc surrounding country should at- tend the scrics. . \ HC1l1c1l1her 110 profits go in to " , _ . _ _ . . . . . . . . . , . . . . --.ar _ . . . . . . . . . . . . . . _ _ . . . . . . . . . ana private pockets and the course is run only for the good of thc community. The Bureau from whom the course is bough , announces "Our Gurantec , Mone ) ' Refunded if not Satisfied Our Hobby , Popular PI'ograms " It is true that so many good thins ; arc at thc same time deep , heavy , dull or technical that some people dread rather than desire to buy tickets. This Bureau has therefore - fore tried to put into each number - her relaxation , pleasure , enjoyment - ment and fun and yet to main- tain a high grade , dignified f/ro- gram or lecture which will please to the fun those critics who care for technical excellence , Let us insist that yon will be surprised and pleased with thc series as a whole and that you will feel more than repaid for having gone , Tickets may yet be secured from any member of the Sphinx Club. YThe date of the first entertainment is set for Oct. 29th , 11)04. Get your tickets before the seats arc res n'ed , and remember it is much cheaper to buy a course ticket than to buy single tickets. Price of season reserved seat tickets are $2 for big folks and $1 for school chi Wren. Roosevelt Club. As thc Hon. E. J.
