Notwithstanding thc terrible
heated condition of time tmo-
sphere last Sunday , very large
crowds attended the services at
thc Christian church both morning -
ing and evcning. l ev. Poug'c.'on ,
the pastor , 'used for his morning

and in the evening "Capital and

were very much interested in
both of the subjects ; and showed
their approval of thc. same , by
passing many complimcntary re-

everyday lives ; something that
will help them to realize thc con-

A Kansas paper says "a little
chigger climbed laboriously to
the top of a blade of grass and
called frantically for his cllows.
After they had assembled he
pointed excitedly towards a pair

J. B. Downs , wIfe and daughter -
ter came up from St. Joe Satur-
day. Mr. Downs returned Sun-
day but his wife and daughter
will remain in the city for a short
visit with relatives.
John Alexander DowIe says
that his 23 year old son Glad-
stone has never been kisscd. Two
theories have been advanced
about this. Either the old man
doesn't know or the boy is a club.
Will Holt shipped twenty three
head of hogs to the Fair at Se-
dalia last Friday. From Seelalia
he will take them to Des Moines ,
thence to Lincoln and then on to
St. Louis.
Gertrude Linn who has been
visiting the past month with
friends in this city returned to
her home in St. ocsph Monda ) ' .
Harry Pence and wife left
Monday afternoon for California
where they will visit with the
parents of the fOlI1er.

having been called here by the
illness of their daughter.
