Miss ' Carrie Boyd of Rube has
been elected -primary teacher of
thc crdon schools for thc ensuing -
suing ycar.
Prof. Gco. E. Martin , is spcnd-
jug part of his vacation in Okla-
homa.
The summer session of thc
State Normal 1 school closed last
\Vcdncsday. 42 students froni'
Richardson county attended this
session.
The schools of Richardson
County require 150 tcachers. As
far as thc County Superintendent
is able to tdl at this tithe , 80 teachers -
chcrs have contractcd.
It is gratifying to know that
thus far this year our school
boards have shown a willingness
to Ply better wages. It makes
"
no difference in what line of work
a person may be engaged how
well hc may love his work or how
conscientious hc may bc , all
thinking people will admit that
there is at least a slight tendency
to work commcnsuat'ly with thc
pay. Often thc teacher who is
most succcssful in thc school
room can make more money in
some other line of work. Hence ,
if wc arc going to keep our best
teacher , we must keep the pay
abreast of the timcs. Of course ,
we all admit the truth of thc old
saying , that "A good teacher is
cheap at any price , and a poor
one is dear at any price. "
Five picture entertainments ,
Thirty hours of class work ,
Two of thc most prominent
political speakers of thc campaign
Senator Dollivcr of Iowa and cx-
Governor Stone of Missouri , will
address the Chautauqua on Aug-
ust 18.
Besides many misccllan'cous
entertainments and attractions ,
and thc Childrcn's Chautauqua ,
