Another Wreck in B M Yards
While the local freight train from
the west was switching in the north
Burlington yards in this city Wednes
day afternoon the locomotive was de
railed whether by the derailing switch
being left open or some other cause is
not positively known The engine men
both jumped from the cab as the engine
turned and Engineer Gasaway was in
jured by the plunge His injuries are
not considered serious and he was tak
en to his home at Hastings An engine
and crew came down from Holdrege
and took the local in to Hastings The
wrecker arrived at 630 and before mid
night the engine had been picked up
and the track cleared The roadbed
under the sidetrack where the wreck
occurred has recently been filled and is
possibly too soft to sustain the weight
put on it About a month ago a couple
of freight cars were dumped in almost
the same place the accident being at
tributed at that time to spreading of
the rails Minden Ne ws
