Tuesday evening nt the high school
auditorium for 25c The success of Mrs
Leavitt on tho lecture platform seems
almost an pljonominil as that of her dis
tinguished father Tho press comments
all over tho country are loud in the
praises of her work Her lecture will
be A Pilgrimage Through Pales
tine
Of her lecture nt Grand Junction
Colorado tho Sntiuel says Mrs
Leavitt in her own way gave her im
pressions of old Palestine the center of
the worlds most sacred memories It
was tho clear interesting narrative of a
splendid and thoughtful young womans
view of her travels her impressions her
observations in the land where walked
the Man of Galileo and where the
prophets and saints of old lived and
breathed There was nothing stilted
nothing stale nothing tiresome about
Mrs Leavitts talk Her talk gave her
hearers many new and true views of tho
Holy Land many new appreciations of
its cities its people its life its past
and its present There was much that
was inspiring about her talk much that
was intensely instructive In a clever
manner with the aid of a blackboard
Mrs Leavitt convincingly illustrated
some parts of her talk With a strong
but not at all harsh voice gentle but
clear as well and pleasingly penetrating
with the knack of illustrating pointedly
with a fine reasoning power with a
charming personality this young wo
man making no pretensions of being an
orator or a remarkable speaker is one of
the most entertaining women speaker
we have ever heard and her powers
along this line are certain to develop
Mrs Leavitts talk she says it is not a
lecture was most enthusiastically re
ceived and nothing but favorable com
ment has been heard not only concern
ing the talk but concerning the speak

HIGGINS WAS THE LUCKY MAN
L M Hlg lns of Bartley Will be Our
Next County Sheriff
As indicated in our last weeks issue
the vote on sheriff was a tie Scrff
Peterson and L M Higgins the Dem i
cratic candidate each receiving 977
votes After the canvass had been com
pleted last Thursday evening and the
result finally and conclusively known
tho two candidates drew for the
office which fell to Mr Higgins
The Tribune hears nothing of Mr
Higgins but fair words from those in
the eastern part of the county and we
believe that he will make the county
a conscientious and efficient sheriff
