tho spread of contageous disease in the city of McCook and provide penalties for tho violation hereof and to repeal ordinance No 57 passed and approved August 14 1894 on the same subject Be it ordained by the mayor and city council of McCook Nebraska Sec 1 Tho board of health of the city of McCook shall consist of the mayor who shall be chairman the city phi siciau who shall be secretary the chief of police who shall bo health officer and tho president of the city council A majority of said board shall constitute a quorum to enact ordinances for the enforce ment of all rules regulations and orders of said b ard and provide linos and punishment for a violation thereof Said board of health shall have power to make all needful rules and regulatioLs relating to matters of health and sanitation of said city including tho removal of dead animals the sanitary condition of the streets and alleys and vacant grounds of stock yards cattle and hog pens wella cisterns privejs water closets cess pools tables and all buildings and places not specified where filth nuisances or offensive matter is kept or is liable to or does accumu late To regulate suppress and prevent the occur- ance ol nuisances unci enforce all laws of the state and ordinances of the city relating to the same as to the matter of health and sanitation of tho city Said board shall also have control of 11 con tagious and infectious diseases and the rare and treatment regulation and prevention there of of hospitals dispensaries and places of treatment of the sick and of matters relating to the same under such restrictions and provi ions as may bo provided by ordinances of said city Sec 2 The mayor with the consent of the city council shall appoint a city ph siciau who shall be a resident practicing jili siciau lie shall hold said ollice during tho pleasure of the mayor who appointed him In case of vacancy the oflieo shall be filled bv tho major in the manner aforesaid He shall receho as compensation for his services the sum of 2 foreach visit necesarilj made in and about the treatment t iauj pati nts that may bo necessary to be treated lor any contageous disease aforesaid and a secretary of said board of health ho shall keep a record of all its transactions which he shall record in a book and do whatever oth r duty that may be necessary to perform by order of said board The chief of police shall be th health officer who shall execute all orders of the board of health with authority to arr st and confine any person or jwrsons who violates any of the ordinances rules and
