Governor Sheldon comes into fame
a la Teddy as an epigrammatist
With practically all the state schools
of all grades not to mention the denom
inational schools in and about Lincoln
and in the eastern part of the state the
proposition to convert the old Western
Normal School at Lincoln into another
state normal school is immeasurably ab
surd
Engineer E A Wells has been let out
of the service
Conductor II A Beale is home for a
few days from his Kansas branch run
General Foreman P W Schultz has
resigned He is still in charge as his
successor has not been appointed
Harry G Young and L P Chapman
have gone to Sheridan Wyoming to re
enter the Burlington service
The Burlington has officially announc
ed its purpose to build across Wyoming
to Salt Lake City and south from Wor
land to Denver thus passing directly
through the heart of the famous Sho
shone country
Engineer Jay H Snyder who was so
severely injured at Red Willow station a
few months since by being struck on
the head by the iron crane of a passing
passenger train is now with Nebraska
City relatives until he recovers from an
operation performed in Denver a short
time since

the estate of Mary A OConnell deceased
filed in said court her final account as said exe
cutrix and that said final account will be heard
on the 15th day of January 1907 at the hour of
10 oclock am at the county courtroom in the
city of McCook in said county you are hereby
cited to appear at the time and place above in
dicated and show cause if such exists whj snch
account should not be heard

On reading and filing the petition of J E
Kelley praying that the instrument filed on the
27th day of December 1906 and purporting to
be a duly authenticated copy of the last will and
testament of the said deceased may be proved
approved probated allowed and recorded as
the last will and testament of the said George
Morris deceased late of Guthrie county state
of Iowa
Ordered that January 12 1907 at one oclock
pm is assigned for hearing said petition when
all persons interested in said matter may appear
at the county court to be held in and for said
county and show cause why the prayer of said
petitioner should not be granted and it is fur
ther ordered that notice of the pendency of said
petition and the hearing thereof be given to all
persons interested in said matter by publishing
a copy of this order in the McCook Teibdne a
weekly newspaper printed in said county for
three successive weeks prior to said date of
hearing

Young Is Made Superintendent
E E Young trainmaster at Denver
and formerly trainmaster of the Lincoln
division of the Burlington has been
made superintendent of the McCook
division with headquarters at McCook
The appointment is effective today Mr
Eaton resigned about three weeks ago
his resignation being made effective on
January 1 1907 s
E E Young came to Lincoln from
St Joe and from Plattsmouth he went
to St Joe He came up from the train
service having been a switchman train
man yardmaster and trainmaster He
is regarded as an able pushing ener
getic railroad man and as trainmaster
worked a number of reforms which are
said to have benefited the service A
short time before the resignation of Mr
Eaton Mr Young was transferred from
Lincoln to Denver it having been said
that there was a congestion of business
on tho west end and that the services of
an expert trainmaster were needed
No successor has been named for his
position at this place and no successor
for his position at Denver has been ot
ficially announced This leaves two va
cancies for which trainmasters soon may
be appointed Lincoln Journal
George W Bailey returned home last
Friday night from visiting his daughter
in South Dakota
Engineer W H Dungan and family
arrived home Sunday night from their
holiday visit with Hastings relatives
Engineer William Fane was sum
moned from Wyoming early in the
week by the serious illness of his
nephew Claude Bailey
JG Schobel arrived home Monday
from his absence in Chicago on train
mens schedule business Mrs Schobel
returned from Minden yesterday
William Grabnowski departed for
Denver on 13 Wednesday after a short
visit here with the wife and baby who
will shortly follow him to Denver
One of the pleasing incidents of the
Christmas time was the presentation to
Supt Eaton of a superb anil valuable
gold watch and chain by members of
the headquarters official and clerical
force
Dispatcher T B Campbell and Miss
Ruth went down to Lincoln Saturday
morning last on 2 he having time card
business at headquarters They visited
at Plattsmouth Sunday with Mr and
Mrs E J Kates returning home on
Monday
T H Stafford of Denver succeeds E
E Young as trainmaster at Denver
It is a matter of rumor that Ex Supt
Eaton will take service with the Lehigh
Valley railroad but he has not signified
his intention but will enjoy a vacation
for a few weeks before taking up finally
any proposition
Joe Mokko who has been acting as
Master Mechanic Culbertsons chief
clerk sinco W P Brosss resignation
some weeks since yesterday received of
ficial notification of his appointment to
that position Joe has been a faithful
and efficient clerk in the master mechan
ics office for past six years or more and
has richly deserved this promotion
All the boys are congratulating him
upon his good fortune

Mrs J E Noe took her daughter Al
ma to Iudianola to go to her school in
Bethany Neb
Mrs Mitchells young had the misfor
tune a few days ago to have one bone
in her foot broken
Dr DeMays brother and wife of
Jackson Mich loft for a trip to Cali
forna and thence to Florida
Mr aud Mrs J E Noe gave a party
for their daughter Alma Monday night
An enjoyable time was reported
Miss Sadie Everist who has been vis
iting in this vicinity since Christmas

Mrs John Wintjen of Dresden Kan
sas visited friends and relatives in and
around Danbury the latter part of last
week
Mrs Gertrude Thomas has moved in
to her new house in the southern part of
Danbury which she recently purchas

W J Stilgebouer has sold his butcher
shop to Mr Olmstead of Cedar Bluffs
We understand that Henry Hellison
will run the business
W R Burbridge preached at the
Christian church in McCook Sunday
morning and evening He reported a
very pleasant time At Indianola he
