At the regular sossion of the city coun
cil Monday evening tho members pass
ed upon tho proposition of the Burling
ton anent tho crossing matter The
council agreed to accept tho companys
proposition to place a crossing at tho
foot of Manhattan street provided tho
company maintained tho same As to
tho crossing about a half mile cast of
tho Manhattan street crossing tho
council took no action on tho ground it
was outside their jurisdiction and a pro
per subject for action upon tho part of
tho county commissioners The Tri
bune believes tho company will event
ually acquiesce in tho wisdom of plac
ing tho crossing at the present and old
location and that thoy will maintain the
same thus bringing to a close a dis
turbing incident in an entirely satisfac
tory manner
