Engineer Charles Starr returned
early in the week from his visit in

C D Kenady and family late from
Grand Junction Colo have located in
Red Cloud
Clyde Lyle has gone over to Oberlin
Kansas to assist in the depot at that
place for a while
Frank Green went to work Wednes
day night under Foreman llowell of
the blacksmith shop force
Engines 3031 and 1274 will go out of
the back shop first of next week The
2985 is also nearing completion
W II Anderson returned to work in
the shops this week He has been em
ployed at Havelock for the company
An unabridged copy of the new rail
road rate bill will be found on pages
two and three of this weeks Tribune
A bunk car in the yard caught fire
Saturday night but the flames were
subdued before much damage was oc
casioned The switch engine gave the
alarm
Frank Green formerly employed in
the blacksmith shop here but lately in
the government service on the Isthmus
of Panama is visiting relatives here
this week
The tool room in the roundhouse has
been moved this week to the main tool
room in the east end of the back shop
It seems a good deal like going down to
Red Willow siding for tools to the boys
in the roundhouse But is is economy
doing away with a tool room boy or
two

nese quail is known by when at borne

specimen of om chuug was ever known
to live n year that they do not lay
eggs as all other known species of
birds do aud finally that their pro
genitor is a slimy four jointed worm
which has a red head and a sting on

worm according to the curious legend
of om chuug lays 100 eggs annuallv
Fifty of these become lish and the oth
er fifty are worms of the same species
as the parent The fish that has come
into existence in this curious manner
also lays 100 eggs a year Fifty cf
these become water denizens after the
image of their parent and the others
become birds of the famed om chung
family These om chungs or Chinese
quails never breed and are only
brought into existence as above related
We give the above not as a literal fact
but as a specimen of the Chinese idea
of evolution
