Manager Heber of the Western Union
was laid up a few days with an attack
of acute indigestion but was able to re
sume his desk Monday morning
Conductor J J Curran has purchas
ed the Rathbun residence of north Main
avenue The Tribune understands
that Mr and Mrs Rathbun contem
plate moving to Oregon to live
Manager Heber of the Western Union
was taken suddenly quite severely ill at
the office Wednesday and had to be
taken to his room in a buggy He is
much better at this writing however
The Burlington will place a new time
card in effect October 8th It will
make a few changes in the time of trains
on the McCook and Wymore divisions
but none of importance on the Lincoln
division
John Chambers who has been in
charge of the B M station at Ludell
Kansas for over a year has been trans
ferred to Haigler Nebraska and left for
that point last Saturday Miss Nettie
accompanied him to Haigler and will
remain for a week or so John was suc
ceeded at Ludell by C M Pfrimmer of
Stratton Neb Atwood KasPatriot
Some rumors of a new time card have
been heard in the Burlington circles It
has been figured out by some of the em
ployes that No 6 will run through Lin
coln about 430 a m that No 13 will
be continued west to Oxford there con
necting with No 13 on the valley line
and doing local work between Lincoln
and Oxford that No 14 will run from
Oxford to Lincoln picking up the cream
and local business thus relieving main

Burlingtons Bartley Depot Burned
The Burlingtons deput at Bartley
was entirely destroyed by fire yesterday
afternoon Some of the records and
part of the freight were saved but all of
Agent Frank Purvis household goods
and personal effects including a new
piano just recently purchased were
burned He carried some insurance

McCook division of the Burlington has
resigned C L Eaton superintendent
of transportation at Omaha has been ap
pointed superintendent of the McCook
division Fred D Weidenhammer at

at Omaha These changes become effec
tive October 1
It is said that Mr English will go into
some other line of business but what he
may later decide upon is not hinted at
Mr English is an old time employe of
the Burlington having risen from the
tiain service to trainmaster from train
master to assistant superintendent at
Aurora and from assistant superintend
ent to acting superintendent at McCook
in which position he was later made su
perintendent He took the place made
vacant by the ill health of the late Alex
ander Campbell
C L Eaton is a Burlington product
who for many years was a resident of
this city From the office of chief dis
patcher of the Lincoln division ho was
niacin superintendent of transpgrtation
and soon after that his office was moved
I to Omaha A great many Burlington
i people often predicted that Mr Eaton
will rise to a position of commanding
responsibility in the railroad service
I Fred D Weidenhammer has worked
I for the Burlington many jears the
I greater part of the time on the Gales-
burg division He was made chief dis
patcher after Mr Eatons promotion
and later went into Mr Byrams office

Conductor J F Utter was injured
at Lebanon last Saturday by having a
barrel of oil roll over his right arm
while unloading the same from a car at
that station
Brakeman and MrsCB Clark arrived
home from their visit in Rocky Ford
Colorado Wednesday night They re
port a killing frost at that point just
shortly before they left and sad havoc
being played with fruit melons etc
