September 4th to 8th will occupy three times the space heretofore ailoted to the schools of the state Five times the usual amount is offered in prizes eight hundered and twenty dollars worth of prizes and ninety two diplomas being offered Of the total 721 prizes twenty six are general two hundred and nine teen are for town and city schools and four hundred and seventy six are exclu sively for rural occurred on last Saturday morningat four oclock at the farm of John I Pierce who lives a few miles south of Trenton and for whom he was working at the time De ceased formerly was an engineer on the Burlington in the early days The re mains were buried in the cemetery at Trenton at five oclock Monday An aged mother one sister and one brother survive him The remaining members of the family were
