his grocery stock should not he assessed for tho
year 100 and tho said J G Stokes beiug pres
ent in person in pursuance to notice given him
tho matter of his assessment coming on for

James I Lee for reduction of assessed valua
tion of ico owned by each of them tho said
Patrick Walsh and said James I Lee being
present in person after hearing on said mat
ters tho same was continued for further con
sideration until tho JJth day of June 100
In tho matter of the complaint or A II Red
fern for reduction of his assessment as return
ed by the assc or of Daubury precinct on
motion tho roturn or tho assessor was sustained
On motion all taxes on tho Y M C A build
ing situated on lot 13 block 29 of tho original
city of lndiauola were cancelled and treasurer

The application of tho Citizens Bank of Mc
Cook and the First National Bank of McCook
for reduction of tho assessed valuation by al
lowing each of said banks to deduct from tho
value of tho capital stock as found by tho asses
sor tho value of tho bank building and fixtures
as carried by them on their books instead of
taking tho assessed value of the bank building
and fixtures said Citizens Bank being present
by V Franklin and said First National Bank
being present by F APonnell on due consider
ation whereof it is ordered by the board that
tho application of said Citizens Bank and First
National Bank be denied and that tho assessed
valuation of said Citizens Bank nnd said First
National Bank of McCook as returned by tho
assessor be approved and confirmed

Miller for reduction of the assessed valuo of
cattlecame on for hearing before tho board

Damages by reason of tho location of said
road were allowed as follows Jacob Randel
claimed 150 allowed 43 on west half north
west quarter 16-3-28 and the overseer of road
district No 5 was directed to pay same out of
any funds belonging to said district as by law
provided
Petition of J M Brown aud others asking for
tho establishment of a public road was read
and considered the board finds that all owners
of land along line of proposed road have given
consent thereto in writing On motion same
was granted establishing a public road as fol
lows Commencing at the south east corner of
the west half south east quarter of section 14
township 3 range 27 west of the Gth P M run
ning north on tho line between the oast half of
tho east half and west half of ast half of soc
tiou 14 township 3 range 27 west of tho Cth P
M aud continuing on north on the best practi
cal route near that lino until it reaches tho
main road running in an easterly and westerly
direction near the bluffs on the south side of
tho Republican river aud to vacate the road
that now runs through the west half of tho east
half of said section It township 3 range 27
west of the 6th P M and clerk was instructed
to notify overseer of highways to open said
road

of two former McCook young people

A pretty home wedding occurred at
the residence of the brides sister Mrs
Clarence Denton 21C4 Humboldt street
Denver Colorado Wednesday evening
June 21st 1903 when Miss Rachelle
Maude Best and Mr George Thomas
Kirchner were united in marriage by
Rev P T Ramsey of St Pauls M E
church in the presence of a few intimate
friends and relatives of the contracting
parties
The bride was beautifully gowned in
white silk wore a large white picture
hat and carried a bouquet of white roses
The groom was conventionally dressed
in black
The bride it will be remembered
was until a year or two since a resident
of McCook having grown to young wo
manhood here She was a member of
the graduating class of 02 The groom
resided here for a short period while in
the Burlingtons employ
After a short honeymoon the young
couple will be a home to their friends in
Denver
