If It Was True When He Said It It is

I see very little difference between
the platform of the Republican and
Democratic parties but the Democratic
party is the more thoroughly under the

Republican party ever dared to be

RUSSIA VS JAPAN
Battle of Occasioned on
Similar Lines
t
History recites that the most trivial
disputes in their commencement have
occasioned some of the bloodiest war
fares between opposing countries
Whether or not the origin of theJRussia
Japan trouble can be classed in this cat
egory cortain it is that the battle of
Paardeberg originated from just such a
source
With theWaltorL Main circus which
exhibits here on August 29 one of the
most costly and instructive features on
the program is a correct military pro
duction of the Paardeberg battle Big
circuses like all other institutions solic
iting public favor have to keep thor
oughly abreast of the times and no bet
ter evidence of this assertion could be
advanced than Mr Main entailing the
enormous expense of producing this re
alistic military spectacle It is a master
stroke in the circus line and at once es
tablishes the Main enterprise as a leader
in novel ideas for the edification of
amusement goers
The battle of Paardeberg was the most
fiercely fought engagement of the great
Boer war the English casulties being
over 1100 and the Boer loss 220 men
In this contest General Cronje the re
doubtable Boer soldier made an uncon
ditional surrender His only stipula
tions were personal that his wife grand
son secretary adjutant and his servant
might accompany him to which Lorn
Roberts acquiesced
In this military exhibition as pro
duced by the Main circus genuine Boers
Matabeles Zulus South African caval
ry detachment of British naval reserves
Colonial troopers Africander men and
women and natives who took part in the
great Transvaal war appear Expert
Boor horsemen exhibit to advantage in
feats of remarkable horsemanship Bul
lock wagons and the original Guelo stage
coach are also employed in the present
ment African elephants enact a realis
tic battle scene which greatly aids this
immense spectacular effort in making it
a production of more than interest
Healthy Mothers
Mothers should always keep in good
bodily health They owe it to their chil
dren Yet it is no unusual sight to see
a mother with babe in arms coughing
violently and exhibiting all the symptoms
of a consumptive tendency And why
should this dangerous condition exist
dangerous alike to mother and child
when Dr Boschees German Syrup would
put a stop to it at once No mother
should be without this old and tried
remedy in the house for its timely use
will promptly cure any lung throat or
bronchial trouble in herself or her chil
dren The worst cough or cold can be
speedily cured by German Syrup so can
hoarseness and congestion of the bron
chial tubes It makes expectoration

About a year ago I had a very bad cough
and feared it would run into consumption
writes Hon GeoW Lynch of 27 Mason Street
Worcester Mass When a severe attack of
coughing would come on vomiting would set in
Matter accumulated in nose and my tonsils
were irritated After reading of the wonderful
cures resulting from Dr Pierces Golden Med
ical Discovery began to use it with some doubts
as to the good it would do me I am frank to
say But after I had used one bottle I noticed
quite a change for the better Ordered five more
bottles and before I had used them all the cure
was complete There is not now a trace of
cough or cold in my system and my health is
perfect
