GovEitNOtt VanSant of Minnesota has
sent for Attorney General Douglass to
confer as to action to prevent the con
solidation of Great Northern and North
ern Pacific railroads It is expected the
contest will bo taken up in all the north
western states several of which have
laws similar to Minnesota regarding
parallel railroads The laws of North
Dakota Montana and Washington are
said to be identical with those of
Minnesota
Recognized at Washington
The only instance on record of a post
office being named after a patent medi
cine was last year when in Wetzel
county W Va a new postoffice was
established and named Kodol after the
