Northern division as section foreman.
F. E. Kidder has purchased Mrs. A.W.

1 , on north McFarlaud street , for $500.
L. H. Highland of Alliance was mar
ried to Mrs. Allie Bangs at WilcorMarch
3rd. He is employed on the Northern
division.
Train-master J. 1 * . Kenyon went up to
Cripple Creek , Colorado , * Wednesday
night , on mining business , to return on
Sunday.
Conductor J. S. Cromwell of the Hast-
ings-Oberlin run was laid up , last week ,
by the grip. Extra Conductor Cal Le-
Hew had his run.
S. S. Frederick came up from Holbrook -
brook , Tuesday night , to take the position -
tion of section foreman at this place , vice

Engineer Os Barden of the Republi
can City-St. Francis branch has quit the
company and taken a position with a
Deadwood mining company.

A. J. Washburn has been discharged ,
from the company's service , and is suc
ceeded as foreman of this section by S.
S. Frederick of Holbrook , who is now in
charge.
Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Robison made a
flying trip to Lincoln , last of past week ,
going down Friday night and returning
on Saturday night , to consult a phj'sician
regarding Mr. Robison's health.
The March 6th issue of the Scientific
American has the following item concerning -
cerning a recently patented invention of
a former Burlington engineer : Tubular
Boiler. Sweney Munson , Sayre , Penn.
This boiler has an outer and an inner
shell , with manifold at each end of the
latter and water flue connections between
them , there being forward of the inner
shell a crown sheet having a water leg ,
while circulating tubes having connection
with arched braces extend through the
crown sheet. It is designed that the
boiler will require a less number of stay 1
bolts than are at present necessary , to 1
reduce the liability to leaky flues to a 1
minimum , and afford greatly increased
heating surface , the construction also being - 1
ing such that every flue can be easily inspected - ]
spected and cleaned. ]

L.T . Stayner and Emerson Hanson
were in Culbertson , Monday , on a • 'cow
case" before a local justice. The boj-s
were scooped and judgment rendered
plaintiff. The case will likelj' be ap
pealed
Switchman L S. Watson returned from
Chicago ( , close of last week. Reports
that | his brother Charlie stood the trip
well , and later word is that he feels en
couraged ' over his improved condition.
The salaries of Burlington engineers
and firemen have been evened up lately
by a S3-stematic change. In some cases
it was a straight cut of salary , but with
the 1 firemen , while it affected a number
slighth- , others will benefit from it. On
the Columbus line the engineers were
raised 25 cents per trip and the firemen
10. On the run from Lincoln to Ravenna
engineers ( on the through freights who
formerly received $10 per trip now get
$9 ' 5 ° . a cut of 50 cents per trip. Firemen
were docked 5 cents per trip on the same
run. ' The men affected the most are
those on the line from Aurora to Kear
ney. : The engineers on the passenger
there 1 former ' got $5 20 per trip , but un
der < the new schedule the\- will receive
onh' $4.50 , a reduction of 70 cents per
trip. Firemen were reduced from $3 20
to $2.75 Lincoln Journal.

COUNTY COURT.
The preliminar3T hearing of D. B.
Bohnstedt , last Friday morning , for al
leged ] illegal voting at the late election ,
resulted in favor of Bohnstedt , who easily
proved ] his legal right to vote in McCook ,
and the case was dismissed.
Petition was filed , this week , asking

in the case of Inman H. Triplett , de
ceased. Case will be heard , Mondaj'
next.

formed in the Union hotel. Both hail

DISTRICT COURT.
The divorce suit of Jane A. Washburn
vs. Andrew J. Washburn has been dis
missed at plaintiffs costs and without
prejudice , and the parties at interest have

harmonized matters and renewed the
marital relation.
Action in garnishment has been filed
by Ferd Vering vs. John Kummer.
Meigs H. Whaples has commenced an
action ; against David Creager et al. , in
equity. '
Judgment has been filed in the case of
M. H. Johnson vs. A. N. Dobson.
Lodge at Stamford.
A fine lodge of the Order of the Star
of ' Jupiter was organized in Stamford ,
this week. The lodge starts out with a
charter ' membership of 26 , and of this
number 22 were initiated the first night. *

the organizer , and there are more for the (
near future.
