BOX ELDER BLOSSOMS.
It looks quite like spring.
Here we are , just thawed out of a snow
bank.
Elder Maddox spent the Sabbath hereabouts
last week.
J. B. Piper took a trip to Alma , last week ,
and took in the storm at Indianola.
We learn that Mrs. Turner is on the sick
list this week.
The winter term of school at Box Elder
commenced Nov. 29th , with N. J. Chrysler as
teacher.
Rev. J. B. Piper filled the M. E. pulpit , at
Box Elder , last Sunday morning' and evening.
Rev. Chapiu closed his meetings here on
Wednesday last , on account of the condition
of the roads. He will commence again on
'
Monday , Nov. 29th. * .
Mrs. I. J. Starbuck , of McC.ook , was visiting
her parents , Mr. and Mrs. Weygint , the latter
part of the week.
A huge wave of pleasant memories come
over us as we hear Joe Stephens' familiar ha ,
ha , ha , and Jim Kinghorn's tc , he , he.
The Box Elder literary society is still pros
perous , and is becoming quite an interesting
affair. No doubt much talent will be brought
forth and polished , that would otherwise lie
dormant.
The M. E. Sunday School of this place still
continues to be well attended by diligent
scholars and zealous teachers , a fact which
wo are happy to note. For we believe that a
community that can sustain a good live Sun
day school , will never sink into oblivion.

held in connection with the fat stocK show in
Chicago , from Nov. 8th to 19th ? Wo have. Il
linois takes the lead with 78 entries , while
Nebraska is right on her heols with 73 entries.
Hurrah for Nebraska ! yells a GKANGEI : .
IN the recent "pernicious political
activity" putterings of Grover Cleve
land we have the measure of the admin
istration to a nicety. It will be re
called that the president , sometime
since , issued a circular threatening to
suspend any federal officer who partici
pated in politics. Under that order he
suspended two United States district
attorneys , Ben ton of Missouri , was a
democrat , and Stone of Pennsylvania ,
a republican. Recently , President
Cleveland reinstated Benton. There
upon Stone , whose case was identically
the same , applied for reinstatement.
President Cleveland refuses Stone's ap
plication. Grover takes the bakery in
making cute discriminations , in distin
guishing the subtle difference between
tweedledee and tweedledum. He has
the distinction , too , of being about the
only man in the nation who sees the
lack of exact identity in the cuses. In
other words , Col. Stone has chased the
administration up a stump , beautifully.
"YOUNG man , " says the Boston Post ,
"If you would be wise and successful ,
strive to go through life seeing , but not
too much seen ; hearing , but not too
much heard ; knowing , but not too
much known. Have grit , but not too
much gall ; be fly , and not too fresh. "
