the people shall be required to take
their stand for or against the one prin
ciple , oblivious to all the ordinary
questions of public policy that distract
mankind ? "
No. But the temper of this age is
such as to make it necessary for the
party , desirous of receiving the suf
frages of the intelligent voters to ripe
above and beyond the issues of a quar
ter of a century since , giand and im
mortal as they were , to a conscious and
active appreciation of the vital and
pressing principles and issues of the
day , so minutely and accurately de
scribed by the Commercial Advertiser.
The infusion of a few manly , moral
principles into the old body politic ,
will accomplish much good , though it
might be the death of a class of disrep
utable politicians , who have eaten like
a canker at her vital ? . The matter of
numerousness is not so much one of
parties as of men , principles , integrity ,
etc.
THE Leavenworth Times , in giving
a little fatherly advice to the editor of
the Jimtown Kansan , advises him to
"keep his shirt on. " The Jimlown
editor hapens to be a woman.
