Severe Break in Wheat Is Result of Eong Selling Market Runs Into Stop Loss Orders; May Wheat Off and Closes t Near Bottom. i ' -- iw chari.fa jr, i.mmFrv. rnlrersal Smlre Staff Correspondent. Chicago, March 4.—Heavy selling of long wheat, credited by the trade to In terest* that have been the most ardent bulls, ran the market into "stop loss' orders lata today snd accelerated one of the severest break* In some time. At , the low point May wheat was off nearly * cents from the previous day and closed near the bottom. Wheat finished to 7U« lower; corn was 4 to 4^0 lower; oats were 4* to 1 Vfcc down and rye ruled 5 to 6%o lower. During the greater part of the session end up until the last 40 minutes the mar ket repeatedly recovered from all dips, .lust before the smash to $1.91 U May wheat had rallied from $1.95% to $1.96%. Relow $1.9$ the pit was swamped with Felling orderp. Disappointing cables, mediocre export trade and some bearish rumblings helped to bring about the slump, but probably th<? best explanation for such a setback was the weak techni cal condition of the pit. A fair export trade was put through In ^hest. but apparently foreigners were In clined to watch developments generally. I.Worpeo! closed 1% to 1 pence lower. Buenos Aires also was heavy. Corn opened lower, rallied and then broke with wheat.- Continued weakness In the off grades of cash corn, a little freer offerings from Illinois and Indiana and bearish cash news from the south west attracted liberal liquidation in the pit. Last prices were at the bottom. Oats moved downward with the gen eral list. There was fair buying on the dips through commission houses, but the liquidation movement mors than offset *11 support. *'■ ** Rye slumped with wheat. Rye export trade has simmered from day to day and this grain has been acting heavy com pared with wheat for some time. Previsions were higher early hut re acted with grains. Lard was unchanged to 7%o lower and riba were 5 cents lower, Minneapolis Cash Grttln. Minneapolis.
