POLICE LAUNCH ^ SPEEDERS DRIVE Motorist* Warned to Bring Machines to Full Stop Be fore Entering Boulevard*. Tuesday afternoon marked the start of a vigorous campaign launch ed by Council Bluffs police against motorists who fall to obey the park ing ordinances and arterial highway “stop" signs, placed at all lntersec tions of the highways. Offenders will be served with court summons by the arresting officers. First time offenders will be warned In court for the first few days of the campaign but fines are promised those who appear before him after that by Judge J. I,. Blanchard. Motorists are warned by officials to bring their machines to a full stop before entering boulevards or arterial highways to escape arrest. A special squad of officers has been detailed by Chief George Glllaspy for the cam paign. STATE MACCABEES TO PLAN CARAVAN Maccabees from every part of Ne braska will meet at the Paxton hotel at 10 a. m. Thursday for the opening of the annual convention. One of the principal speakers will he Ilenne P. Kuntze of Detroit, a representative of the supreme tent of the order. He will speak in the In terest of the Maccabee automobile caravan to the national convention to he held In July In Washington, D. C. More than 1,500 automobilea are expected to pass through Omaha on their way to this convention. State Commander Otto I.. Mattke of Grand Island will preside at the convention Thursday. Thomas K Gerin will represent the Omaha tent and Is expected to be a strong candi date for delegate to the national con vention. Ed J. Anderson, state record keeper, has been in Omaha for several days arranging for the convention. WAR COLLEGE STUDENT BACK Col. Amos Thomas of the 114th In fantry. national guard, has returned from Washington, D. C„ where he look a six-week course In the army war college. He was one of 15 men zelected from the entire country na tional guard and reserve to take this course. There were 75 army men also In the college. Colonel Thomas was the only man from the Seventh Corps area. He attended a reception by Presi dent and Mrs. Coolidge at the "White House February 5. “I shook hands with the president and Mrs. Coolidge," he said, “and found them very affable. Mr. Cool Idge was his usual silent self, but Mrs. Coolidge was vivacious and ever smiling. She Is one of the most pop ular first ladles of the land ever to occupy the "White House."
