FnlwrsHl Servile Financial KCdltor. New York. .Ian, 20. — Not sine# the elec tion have the transactions on the stock rxchange for a full session been so small hr today. The heavy snowstorm was a contributing element to this contraction in business, but the habit of a bull mar ket to go dull under liquidation was an other ami possibly a greater. Transactions aggregated slightly more than 1.75O.O00 shares, or a little more than one.half of one of the big days. Sentiment continued bearish. There was no snap to the rails. New York Cen tral was strong and higher for a time but slid off later, while the St. Pauls riot only lost all their gain of Monday, but more too. The recent decline In the rails brings them below the average price at which they sold one month ago, while the in dustrials on an average are more than six points higher. The sugars were In favor, American Sugar being particularly strong. The leathers, agricultural machinery shares and a few isolated issues did well but the general list was heavy. Selling pressure was less evident than on any recent day when the market showed weakness. After the tremendous activity of Mon day It was to be expected the gra n mar ket would rest a bit. There was decided ly less bullish fervor but It was consid erable of h market nevertheless. Argentina was declared to be offering corn delivered New York duty free at SI :tr».
