These districts are all north of TJodge street, and there are approxi mately 100,001) square yards of work In the lot. The cost will be about 1300.000. The largest district in this aeries is Florence boulevard, from Chicago street to point 300 feet south of Willis avenue, a distance of one and one-fourth miles. This thorough fare will be repaved. Estimates of City Engineer Herman Heal, submitted tv, the council, and which are for the guidance of con tractors, show a reduction of 2 cents per yard for asphalt, asphaltic con sul crets and brick, compared with last dl year; also reduction of $12 to $10.75 V Tier ton on sheet topping, and reduc , I tlon of $10 to $8.75 per ton on hinder. Coaster Taken Home—Harry Gra vert, 8, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Gravert, 2713 North Sixty-second street, who was seriously injured two weeks ago while coasting, was taken from Methodist hospital to his home last Saturday much improved. Davis Leaves Hospital—Detective William Davis, who accidentally shot himself in the hand Saturday, left Nicholas Senn hospital Tuesday morn ing and will stay for the present at the home of Ben Danbaum, chief of detectives. University of Nebraska medical student, who suffered serious Injuries to his back In a coasting accident, will have a plaster cast placed around his body Tuesday afternoon at University hospital, where he is a patient. Sarmardirk Date Due—The trial of Robert Samardirk on six complaints filed last week by County Attorney Henry Beal, charging assault and bat tery, will probably he set for hearing within the next 30 or 60 days. United States Attorney J. C. Kinsler an nounced Tuesday. The cases will be heard before Judge Woodrough In federal court. Two Thomas Speeches—Elmer Thomas, prohibition enforcement di rector, will speak before the Ne luaraka County Attorneys’ association an Its convention Tuesday afternoon at Lincoln. He will explain the Ne braska prohibitory law. Mr. Thomas will speak at 8:30 p. m. Sunday at Benson Methodist church on the sub ject of law' enforcement. By International New, Service, Berlin, Jan. 13.—Twenty-two per sons were killed, 1R severely Injured and 44 received minor injuries when! the Berlin-Cologne express crashed Into another train at the Herne sta tion near Cologne today. Four crowded cars of the passenger train into which the express crashed were demolished. The express train was not much damaged.
