Ever see a place where so many people holler at once ‘Can’t be done’? Well, I’m King of the ‘Can’t Do Its’. You got to have iron, got to have coal, got to have water power to build a great city. Nobody but farmers around here. Forget it. Quit right now!” “Forget it, eh? I know you—you big bluffer. You’re the bird that advised my Dad twenty-five years ago not to buy Omaha property. Well today 48 per cent of the families in Omaha own their own homes. Farmers, eh? Well thank God for that! Omaha has 1,400 retail stores which do an annual business of approximately $150,000,000. It has over 500 wholesale houses doing an annual business of $480,000,000 -- approximately $1, 300,000 a day! Omaha has more than 500 factories producing $388,000,000 worth of products annually-more than $1,000,000 a day! It is the home of one of the largest building and loan as sociations in the United States. Forty-eight per cent of the peo ple living in Omaha own their own homes! Let these facts burn into your consciousness! Memorize them -talk them-write them! Let your enthusiasm for Omaha and Nebraska’s progress and future be instilled into every person you meet the inspiration for a greater city and state. Make the slogan “Greater Nebraska Straight Ahead” more than a phrase -a battle cry toward a great objective! Think what Omaha’s progress and achievements mean in terms of prosperity for every man, woman and child in Omaha! What a wonderful opportunity for progress if YOU only play your part!
