Barksdale, accompanied by Ob server Althoff, crashed Into their mo tor truck. Tha plana was taarlng along at a high rata of spaed near tha ground, teatlng lnatrumenta uaad on the epecd course, when tha landing gears caught on tha top of tha truck. The tragedy occurred at tha old Wil bur Wright field, which la now In the stage of being made over Into the now McCook field. First reports said the plane had ■crashed at McCook field and that the pilots had escaped In their parachutes. J-ater reports made It plain that neither passenger In the plane was seriously injured due to Its nearness to the ground. Ninety Days in Jail. PNEUMONIA FATAL TO HARDWARE MAN Charles K. Hutchins, 62, traveling representative In Iowa for the I.ee ICountze Hardware company, died Wednesday morning at Lord Lister hospital of pneumonia. He became ill on New Year’s day. lie made his home at the Hamilton hotel. Mr. Hutchins was delegate many times to national conventions of the Travelers’ Protective association. He had been with the local hardware firm for 22 years. He is survived by bis widow and two daughters, Mrs. Robert Clark and Mrs. Killian of Los Angeles, who will arrive Thursday evening. AGED MAN, 75, HIT BY AUTOMOBILE Max Somlt, 75, 2429 Decatur street, suffered scalp lacerations when he was struck by an automobile driven by H. Schwartz, 3324 North Thirtieth street, at Sixteenth and Davenport streets Tuesday morning. Police Sur geon Klnyoun attended Somlt and took two stitches in his scalp.
