Folks that ventured Int’ th' west In quest o' land an’ gold soon learned t' ahoot, an’ shoot straight. Sheriffs, stage coach drivers, an' even terri torial governor*, wuz dead ahota an’ If a bandit dldn’ kill hie victim right off th’ bat. It wuz a hundredt’-one shot he'd bite th’ dust himself. Th’ ole blue-flannel shirt bandit had no laundry marks, or dental work, t' Identify him so his body could be sent home t’ his wife. He wuz protected by no organization, an’ either worked alone or with a handful o’ trusted pals. He had no friends t’ ball him out even If ther’d bedh Judges t’ fix his ball. Ther wuz no general bandit fund t’ pay attorneys. T'day our bandits live much th’ same as other well-t’-do folks. They have ther vie trolys an' powerful cars, warm snug apartments an’ lovin’ wives an' chil dren; th^y mix freely In politics an’ often swing elections, they have ther friends at court (both police an’ crim inal) they own greenhouses an' have varied business Interests, an’ are often protected Instead o’ bein’ hunted. Th’ ole western cutthroat who startled the nation had little or no home life—we’ll say no home life. He lived in th’ saddle. He wuz both ered with a horse an’ lived In caves an' canyons. He often had t’ beg a bite from some friendly rancher, an' then he had t' eat standin’ up with his back t' th’ wall. As we said, he had no home life, never got t' read what th’ papers said about him. lie couldn’ read about who he’d killed an' robbed. No wife an' babies welcomed him at th’ cave after a long, hard ride, an’ he never got a chance t’ vote, or take part In civic affairs. He didn’ dare t’ take his boots an* pistol belt off few weeks at a time. He couldn’ go t’ th’ the ater an’ mix with his peers, an' had little or no diver sion ’ccpt playln seven up, or shootin' at soma tenderfoot's toes. Kyen after a big haul he had no place t' spend his money. Th' James boys, Billy, ill’ Kid, an’ th' Dalton brothers couldn’ pull a job an' dart up a thickly congested street an' be safe in bed in twenty minutes like bandits kin t'day. They had t’ beat it through a runnin’ pistol fire fer block after block, as ever’ citizen had a trusty mm. O' course they had no tell talc license plates, or tires V bust, but they often had t’ ride with both arms 'hot off. Only comparatively recent ly a bandit had t' fool around In th' dark an’ hunt a blacksmith shop t' git th’ very tools-he needed, an' often ADVERTIHKM ENT., ADV EHTINF.MEVr. Omaha afords many kinds of Jobs for young men seeking an education who work to make their schooling possible. Dr. Irving S Cutter, dean of the University of Nebraska college of medicine, estimates that 66 per cent of his medical students work and earn an average of $330.11 each school year. Dr. Cutter’s figures show that this average is greater than that earned by students of seven other univer sities, to which some time ago he sent questionnaires. At the University of Iowa only 39 per cent of the students earn money during the school year, their aver age earning being $222.24. Sixty-one per cent of the students at Indiana university earn an aver age of $312.85. At tlie University of Maryland only 25 per cent of the students earn money, the average be ing $275.16. Michigan students earn $297.87, 46 per cent of them working. Figures show that University of Vir ginia students earn an average of $275.75, with 35 per cent of them working and 67 per cent of the stu dents of Syracuse university earn $189.36. I,arge City Favored These figures are an argument in favor of fairly large cities as loca tlons for colleges, Dr. Cutter belives. His lnvestagatlons show that 40 per cent of all the students at the men tioned schools earn one-third of their, total expenses. It Is desirable, particularity dur ing the first year of medical work, that outride work not interfere great ly with studies, however, Dr. Cutter said. At the Nebraska college of me dlcine students are not discouraged by the necessity for working, how ever,, and find Jobs as musicians, waiters, tending furnaces and yards, working in school laboratories. In down town stores, in tutoring pre paratory students for college work and In many other lines. Creighton Students Work. The same is true about Creighton, where B. A. Kennedy, registrar, named a dozen widely-varying occupa Hones through which students make at least a part of thir expenses Among these Jobs Is one of daily in specting of 200 electric sign boards; supervising the operation of a circuit of gum machines and taking calls in an undertaking parlor. Liko Dr. Cutter, Kennedy Is con vincing that the student of moderate should choose the college located in a city rather than in a small town, if he would augment his finances with a Job. Do you have pains in the groin—sometimes called shooting pains? Is there frequently a dull ache at the base of your spine and in the small of your back? Do you often have pains in your legs, which many people attribute to rheumatism? If you suffer from any of these ailments, in all prob ability you are a victim of prostate trouble, for science has demonstrated that these ailments which are usually attributed to kidney trouble are really often caused by the subnormal action of a small gland known as the Pros tate. The prostate gland is about the size of a large chest nut in its normal state and ia located near the base of the spine. It is for this reason that prostate trouble exerts such a powerful depressing influence on the en tire nervous system and other important organs. Once the prftstate gland is healthy and functioning properly, you should quickly be rid of the inconvenience of getting up nights, those strength and vitality sapping pains, and again experience the abounding vigor of per fect health. Since it is said that approximately 50 per cent of all men past 40 years of age and many younger ones suffer from prostate gland trouble, it is fortunate indeed that n treatment has finally been perfected which frequently stops all pain in as short* time as 24 hours. The pleasing thing about this scientific formula known as Walker’s Prostate Specific, is that in getting rid of prostate troubles you are almost certain to add many years of happy productive vigor to your life. Dangers of Prostate Trouble There are many dangers connected with prostate trouble, but the three moat outetnndiiur ones are n% follows: 1 — Delay In treatment may necessitate a surgical operation f«r the removal of th#- gland. 2 Stricture, nee# suit At In* the use of a'cathetar; and 4’t.mpleto nervous or physical break down resulting: in prostration. Tho unfortunnte thin* about becoming: a victim of pros tate trouble is that the average person thinks he Is suffering from some kidney Ailment. Obviously, it is useless to tako some treatment designed for something els#, when the pros tate gland is «t fault. Thus. delay In using: the proper treat ment eventually may necessitate an operation to remove the prostate gland. Such an operation, in addition to being: dan gerous and painful, may remove all chance of a man ever re raining normal vigor, vitality, energy and health. Opera tion should be resorted to only on a last chance to save life. Stricture, or congestion, which may result from chronic prostate troubles, may btcom#* so advanced that eventually It necessitates the use of a cathetar to drain the bladder It Is reliably stated that the average life ot a cathetar user is L»nly five years. The vita! influence of an Interna! secre tion said to be manufactured by the pros tate gland on all the endocrine glands and vital organs of the body may well bo Imagined since acute or chronic prostate troubles frequently result in a complete physical and mental breakdown. The re sult Is that the victim may become a tax on his relatives, friends or charity. BE YOUNGER FEE YOUNG LOOK YOUNG The old saying that a n^n is as old as he feels is certainly a true one. A man with prostatic disorders who feels old is literally old—perhaps before Ms time, but nevertheless he is physically an old man. Youth, after all, is simply a reflection of your health and the state of your mind. 1 have seen and known many men of 60, 70 and even 75 years of age who are actually younger, more vigorous and more successful than other men of 40 or younger. These happy, physically alert specimens of mankind are the fortunate possessors of prostate glands that function properly. In a measure it may be said that the functioning of your prostate gland governs your age. By removing your prostate troubles I sincerely believe that you can feel a new physical and mental power indicative of an age ten years er perhaps even twenty years under your present condition. In other words, to feel younger is to be younger. And 1 firmly believe that within a few hours after you start taking Walker's Prostate Specific you will experience an amazing increase in vitality and aliveness, in addition to being rid of your painful symptoms. .
