'COLUMBIA, Mu., Her. 16_For ( the first time since the Unlver '-y/ slty of Missouri football squad resumed practice more than a week ago, for the game with University of Southern California, at Ix>s Angeles on Christmas day, bad weather today threatened to slow up Coarli Gwinn Henry's preparations for the trip. Unusually fine weather, last week and springlike weather yesterday did miirli to aid the Tiger campaign, but today the weather was on the turn to colder, there was a threat of snow, and a gusty wind threatened to keep i the Missouri squad indoors for to j day’s practice. Work on defense has taken up most of the time of the Missouri squad this week, Henry devoting his efforts to drilling his men in the best methods of breaking up Southern California's expected aerial attack. He hus used plenty of signal drill to keep his men in good condition. Tomorrow night the Tigers will be guests of Columbia business nnd pro fessional men at the Columbia Coun * try club in honor of their Thanks giving day victory over Kansas. They will ho presented with gold football trophies for their achievements in winning the Missouri Valley confer ence championship and will be bid Godspeed on their journey west by their hosts. Iowa City, la., Dec. 16.—Gapt. Hec tor M. Janse returned to the Hawkeye lineup for the light scrimmage Barry gave his men last night, and will be able to play against the strong Butlei quintet here Thursday. The opening drill of the week was brief, consisting mainly of a dummy scrimmage against the yearling cage men. Coach Barry fried to correct many of the defects which the Hawks showed against Wabash Saturday drilling them mainly on defense. Barry’s difficulties this season lie mainly in the development of a strong pair of guards, and all three of the sophomores who are leading the race for positions have been untried. The Hawkeye coach also spent some time in drilling Raffensperger in his duties as center, giving him pointers on how to jump at center.
