He was met at the depot by a squad of police officers anil taken to the Jail, where he was held one and one-half hours awaiting the train which was to take him to prison. In the afternoon he left Logan ac companied by Deputy Sheriffs O. A. Case, to whom he was handcuffed; H. E. Tripp and O. Plene. After stop ping in Council Bluffs for an hour and a half, Carroll and the deputies left on the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy railroad for .Fort Madison. Grand Island, Neb., Dec. 10.—The third pair of careful drivers to be added to the honorary careful drivers’ club of Grand Island Is Mlsa Mar garet Relmers and Tom McLaughlin. Thle honor Is awarded by a secret committee each month to the man and woman considered the most care ful drivers during the month. The Idea was started in September by B. E. Riddle and has been carried out under the directl6n of the chief MEMORIAL FOR WAR DEAD, PLAN Plans for the erection (jf a memorial to the Omaha gnd Douglas county war dead were unfolded by Mrs. William Roth, president of the Omaha chapter of the American War Mothers, In an address Tuesday evening before the Omaha post of the American Legion. Appealing to the legion for support of the prefect, Mrs. Roth said the war mothers have already raised 11.200 for the memorial. She expressed the hope that It might be dedicated dur ing the 1925 convention of the Ameri can Legion. Plans for the monument have not been drawn. Mrs. Roth said, and no estimate of the cost, has been pre pared. The post voted to consider the pro posal at the next meeting of the ex ecutive committee. William Phillips, assistant cashier of the Federal Reserve bank, was to speak on banking to members of the Cosmopolitan club at their regular meeting Wednesday noon at the Hotel Rome. John T.
