County Rule Dulilman ami Koutsky Say Proposed Consolidation Would Cut $1,000,000 Annually From Taxes. Mayor Dahlman and City Commis sioner Joseph Koutsky believe the proposition of consolidating the city and county government should he given an impetus without further de lay. Legislation during the forthcoming session of the state legislature is pro posed. Supttort by Chamber of Com merce, real estate board, greater Omaha committee, improvement clubs and other organizations. Is recom mended. One million dollars a year will be saved by the taxpayers, after the con solidated plan lias been in operation for a few years, according to the mayor and Koutsky. Koutsky for Consolidation. ‘I am not in favor of annexing any more territory to Omaha, as was proposed lust week," said Commis sioner Koutsky. "I am for consoli dation of the county and city govern ments and am ready to work with any committee or organization to that end. If the consolidation should legislate me out of office, I am ready to put on my hat and go back to the store. That is how sincere lam for the consolidation plan. Koutsky believes a representative committedshould he named and the necessary bill or bills prepared for the legislature; then submit the prop osition to a vote next year and be gin on the consolidated plan January, 1, 1926. Mayor Dahlman is in favor of one administration for county and city and Is willing to devote his time and influence toward consolidation. lie is of the opinion that the Greater Omaha committee should start the ball rolling by calling a meeting of representatives of all civic organiza tions and then naming a strong cen tral committee to prepare legislation and follow it up. Treasurer'* Office Cited. County and city consolidation has been observed 'In the treasurer's of fice for years, under the terms of a law applicable to this department. POLICE TO TAKE AUTOS TO GARAGE The police department, beginning next Friday, will maintain a sperial service automobile for hauling to a garage the automobiles of ail motor ists w'ho violate the downtown park ing regulations. Friday will be the first day of the operation of a new- ordinance which provides for 10-mlnute parking within designated spaces in the congested district. The 30-minute parking rule will he continued where not otherwise indicated by the new signs, which will tie placed before Friday. Automobile owners whose cars are hauled to garages will be required to pay for the service and themselves subject to summons to appear In police court for violation of the park ing rules. FLORENCE MAN IS FOUND DEAD Clarence Henderson, 3315 McKin ley street, Florence, was found dead in his lied Sunday morning by A. D. I.eighty, a neighbor. Mr. Henderson was lnpt seen alive Saturday morning. Early Saturday afternoon a neighbor called at. the Henderson home, but no one answered the doorbell. Henderson is survived by his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Henderson, Edmond, Oklu.; one sister, Mrs. Rosie Klein, and a brother, Charles Hender son, 3315 Fort street. The body was taken to a mortuary. Funeral arrangements have not yet been made. TRAMWAY REPORT TO BE SUBMITTED The report of the tramway rommlt tee of the Chamber of Commerce, which has been making a survey of the physical and financial condition of the Omaha A Council Bluffs rail way will he submitted to the execu tive committee of the chamber Tues day. This report, It was said Monday, will not deal with the question of fran chises, but will be devoted to a dis cussion of possible relief for the bene fit of the company, improved service, and paving between tracks on new ex tensions. 45 VOLUNTEERS FOR MISSION WORK Forty fivo persons volunteered to become missionaries at the closing session .Sunday of the annual confer ence of the Christian and Ministerial alliance, which has been In session for the past week at. the Omaha Cos pel tabernacle. I YEGGS CRACK SAFE ; OF COAL COMPANY Yeggmen who have been native in Omaha for two month* turned their attention to North Omaha Sunday night and obtained $200 in cash, after cracking the *afe in the office of the Harmon & Weeth Goal company. Twenty-fourth street and Grand ave nue. The robbery was the fourth at the Harmon & Weeth office in less than two years. Entrance was gained through a side window, and every drawer and cabinet in the office was ransacked. Police believe this robbery, like those at the Emerson and Puritan laundries last week, was the work of a gang of safe blowers who Worked in Omaha about two years ago.
