She says he knocked out fbur of her teeth and blackened both her eyes. He sold her automobile and now libs the proceeds, $3riO, in the County jail. She asks that this be returned to her. .. iMrs. Griggs now resides at 1617 Hurt street. Glad in a wrapper she responded to a ring at the doorbell, but intimated that her matrimonial affairs were not a happy subject of conversation to her. ! The present divorce petition gives her name as Nettie. "My first name’s Mattie and my middle name Nettie," she said. MOTHER FIGHTS FOR 2 CHILDREN Hans Kathman, SG, testified for his (Juughter, Mrs. Anine Godsey of Mil lard, in juvenile * court Saturday. Relatives brought action to take from her her two children—Orville, 5, and Ruby, 3—on allegations that they are ileglected. "It's just a scheme to try to sepa rate me and my husband,” she de clared. “My brothers-in-law are Dutch and they are against my husband be cause he is American.” Relatives testified that Clinton Godsey. the husband, does not pro vide support ami that the family slept in vacant houses and under bridges. A 4 K. C. Welfare Worker Visits Son j Mrs. Olive Foster of Kansas City is visiting her son, Dr. Harry A. Foster, vice chairman of the board of public welfare. Discussing welfare work, in which she is interested in her home city. Mrs. Foster explained that her particular work is to require lazy husbands and grown sons to assist in maintaining their homes, or work under com pulsion at the municipal farm for a wage of f 1.50 per day which is given to their families. "One or two months at the municipal farm usually results In a cure of shiftless men who should be supporting their wives or mothers," Mrs. Foster said. — During her residence in Omaha Mrs. Foster was a charter member of Clifton Hill Presbyterian church. ATTACKED AT DEMO MEETING Plans for a rally of the democratic women leaders from all Omaha pre cincts to be held at party headquar ters on October 7 were prepared at a meeting of democratic women at headquarters Friday night. Thomas B. Murray, former city prosecutor, made a vicious attack on the republican administration in his speech at the meeting Friday. Arthur Mullen, national committee man, and Harland Mossman, attor ney, were other speakers. Mr. Moss man spoke at length on the Fordney McCumber tariff bill and the foreign policy of the United States under the republican administration. WOMAN G.0. P. WORKER HERE Miss Ida M. Anderson of Chicago, director of the business women's di vision of the national republican com mittee. will speak on campaign issues at a dinner to be given in her honor at the Omaha republican headquar ters in the Rome hotel at 6:30 p. m., Tuesday. Miss Anderson will arrive in Omaha at noon Tuesday, and will remain in the city until late Tuesday evening. A reception will follow the dinner. Reservations for the dinner may he made by calling republican headquar ters. • PIGGLY WIGGLY COMPANY SUED Soren M. Nelson sued the Plggly Wiggly Stores. Director* of the Nebraska Good Roads association, meeting in Omaha Friday, decided to recommend the entire program adopted at a recent meeting of the association, which calls for the expenditure of $45,000,000 In the next six years on Nebraska roads. The recommendation will be made at a meeting of the association at Hastings on October 8. The direc tors also prepared a constitution and by4aws for the incorporation of the association, and if they are approved at the Hastings meeting, articles of Incorporation will be filed at I.lncoln.
