After Detroit got a four run lead with five hits in tlie first inning and added a single score in i the third, fourth and seventh, New York scored one in the fourth and Ruth hit a home run witli two on in the fifth. It was Ruth's 31th home run of the season. In the eighth inning New York forged ahead, making four runs on ^F four hits, one of them a triple by ™ Hcott, and two sacrifice flies.
