STANLEY BALDWIN TALAS TOAD MEN London Convention Listens to Advice on Economic As pect of Publicity. ■ • i By Associated Freas. London, July 15.—The second day of the International Advertising con vention today was partially devoted to listening to advice by three mem bers of the late conservative govern ment, Stanley Baldwin, Sir Robert llorne and Sir Phillip I.loyd-Greame, on the direct effect advertising would have in establishing a new economic . life and sound prosperity in the na tions of Europe. The delegates again filled the con ference rooms for this morning's ses sion which is the last general meet ing until Thursday afternoon, when the convention sessions close. This afternoon and Wednesday the dele gates will attend 25 sectional meet ings. The general session today was un der the chairmanship of Lord Lever hulme, the soap king of England and the developer of her largest chain store system. Lord Leverhulme, as one of the first Englishmen to under stand the value of advertising, and as one of the first to utilize advertising, described the long and hard struggle he had fought in England before the manufacturers and public would even agree to consider its advantages. The delegates stood up and gave former Premier Baldwin rousing cheers when he arose to speak. Dur ing his address, which was a sound business man’s talk without frills, he told of the knowledge of advertising he had picked up as head of the board of trade, as chancellor of the ex chequer and as prime minister.
