With the growing demand for dis tinctive homes in Omaha has come a design from R. II: Parks, architect, based on a Spanish type of archi tecture, combining all comforts of a compact American home. The house is designed primarily to he attractive. It requires little space. That Is, it Is not necessary to have two or three city lots to ehow off the building to Its best advantage. As planned by Parks, the house I* to be erected on a corner lot, thus giving full display to both the front and side. The grounds on which the struc ture is set may be arranged to suit the person building, as can the In terior finishings. A Spanish type home that was de signed by R. H. Parks, architect, to fill the growing demand for a beauti ful home. The place is designed to be built on a comparatively email lot. Every foot of space of auch a lot haa been used to advantage to give the impression and style ot a large estate. to the living room. Tha other wing is divided into bedrooms, dining room and kitchen. The living room is de signed to follow the lines of a studio. While there Is no baloany in the design, it can be added with little difficulty. The ceiling is arched and as high as the wing itself. There is no upper floo^ in this part of the home. The front door opens Into a re ception hall, which In turns opens1 into a hall which connects'front and rear of the place. A room opens front the reception hall which may he used for almost anything. It Is designed so that It may be a bedroom, dining room or a study. Clever Breakfast Nook The kitchen is compaet and con venient. with a ■ cleverly arranged breakfast nook that may easily take the place of a dining room. Dundee Addition Ready for Market J . \ George and Company Have Completed Early Work. George A Co. Is making formal an nouncement today rtf the develop ment of the fourth unit of Happy Hollow, the high-grade residence sec tion which this firm began to build in the Dundee district about 10 years ago. This unit, where development start ed almost a year ago. and In which 22 lots were sold before the sale was advertised, lies west of Happy Hollow boulevard and north of Underwood avenue. This unit sdjolns on the south the third unit of Happy Hollow, which was placed on the market a year ago and of which a larger portion of the lota have been sold. The development in this particular district follows the general plan which was laid out several years ago for the George west side holdings by the late J. E. George. J. E. George had the general plans made for the en tire Happy Hollow district, embracing not only that which had already been developed, but all of the old Happy Hollow club grounds, ss well ss con siderable other property In that par ticular section. In addition to the work and general supervision of the George A Co. engineers, the development of the unit which is now going on the market also has the approval of Henry Wright, consulting-architect of 8t. Louis, who has been on the George A Co. staff for several years. All of the grading work has been done in this district and storm sewers are laid. Additional work to be done this year includes the laying of sani tary sewers, water and gas mains, sidewalks, paving, electric lights and trees. In the grading work more than 150.000 yards of dirt were moved. The building line, or set-back re strictions, tn this section ranges from 25 to 45 feet. .The lots rang# In width from (5 to 100 feet, with some of the corner lots much larger. Farm Land Is Moving Rapidly Dealers Report Two Large Sales in Douglas County. Included In the farm sales officially announced last week were two Doug las county deals, on# for $308 an acre and on# for $235 per acre. The $300 sale was that of an $0 acre farm near Millard from Fer dinand Bock to Alfred Hibbler for $24,000. The other was that of an $0 acre farm about four mllea west of Klk City from N. A. Johnson to Perry Steele for $18,800. P. F. O’Gara of Hartlngton, Neb., who was In Omaha last week calling on the Payne Investment company told of several farm deals In hi# sec tion of the state, on# of them for $48. 000. The $48,000 sale waa that of a 240-acre farm four miles from Wynot, Neb., from Doula Hochatein to Anton# Jlelnce, jr., for $200 an acre, all cash. Two other deals Mr. O'Gara reported were one for $150 per acre, and an other for $225 per acre. Other land salea raported to th# Ne braska Realtors’ association last week included a Sheldon (la.) farm for $300 per acre, one near Waterloo for $318 per acre, and five other ealea near Waterloo, all for over 8200 j>er acre. Another land deal waa that of 1*0 acre# near Yanka, Neb., for $32,500. Landscape Work on Happy Hollow Addition Starts Sunken (.arrlrns, Foot ami Bridle Paths to Be Fea tures of New Area. _ « I.undscaplng work was li' sun last Week In the new addition which Shuler and Cary, Omaha realtors, are developing on West Center street, im mediately south of the new Happy Hollow club golf links. The work done last week coaslsted largely In preparation of the ground. The landscapers believe the work on the actual beautifying will be started by the end of this week. Most of the landscaping to be done this year will be along Center afreet, in alx or seven parkwaya acattered through the addition, and in some of the ravines. This tract eonslata of 330 acres fronting on the north side of Center street and lying west of the Pat Crowe woode. The north side of the tract adjoins the eouth portion of the Happy Hollow golf llnka, which are to be ready for golfers by next fall. District Ready in One Tear. The rough grading and building of street* which began In this tract about the middle of last aummer Is now practically finished, and Shuler A Cary expect to have the tract ready to open by the middle of next aummer. There will be 210 Bites In the addition ranging in sire from one third of an acre to an acre. Practically every building site In the addition will be In view of at least some portion of the new Happy Hollow club grounds. The Happy Hollow club building can be seen from most of the tracts. In at least two of the ravines lead ing from the club grounds Into the addition the landscaping will be of the informal sunken garden type. There will be foot paths and bridle paths through various portions of the addition leading to the club grounds. The development plans call for having these foot paths and bridle paths In the rear of the build ing sites. Shuler and Cary are building a road along the west side of this addition leading from Center street ijp to the new Happy. Hollow club house site which la aliout one-half mile north of the addition. HAMILTON ANNEX SOLD FOR $150,000 Ernest Sweet has rinsed a deal for a consideration of 1150,000 whereby | the Hamilton annex, containing 21 I apartment*, passes into the owner ship of the Fred M. Crane company. This company recently purchased the Hamilton hotel for 1250,000 Both of these sales were negotiated by E. L. Thomas and X. V. Walker. Johnston Realty Moves.'
