The sub way stalks Is set for tonight. If It goes into effect London will be In csaos with the street railways, bus lines and subways all tied up. The electrical workers are threat ening to strike If the subway workers quit, leaving the city in darkness and without power. The government Is prepared to proclaim a state of emergency and call for volunteers to operate the es sential services It the present strike la extended. / Such action would undoubtedly cause grave trouble as the strikers would resist and would call upon other labor unions to help them. The government has been placed In an embarrassing position. If drastic measure ere employed they may cause a epllt In the labor party. Members of the privy council went to Knowsley to obtain King George’s signature to the declaration of a state of emergency for use If necessary.
