Y'es, sir. it seeine as if I arn all stomach, and that is empty. It seems as if I could eat sticks and atones. I wonder what it would seem like to have one good meal. It is so long since 1 have had more than a bite at 9 “Oh, my empty stomach, wliat is that!” a tlmo that I have forgotten what a full stomach feels like. My, my, what Is that? Oh, my empty st<An ach, what ia that?” 01*1 Man Coyote stood still, with his head lifted and sniffed long and hun grily. He was hy this time on the edge of Farmer Brown's barnyard. Smoke vvas rising from the chimney of Farmer Brown's house. Mrs. Brown was cooking breakfast. She had opened the door for an instant and the odor of the bacon she was cooking ha/1 escaped to the frosty outer air and had been carried straight to the wonderful none of Old Man Coyote. Now, the smell of frying bacon will give an appetite to those who really are not hungry. You can imagine what it did to Old Man Coyote. He forgot that he was close to the home cf the fwo-legged creatures he had al ways feared. He forgot everything hut desire for the food which smelled so good. He followed that scent straight tip through the barnyard, past the barn and acrcss the doorway. It was just as If an invisible cord t ad been fastened around his neck and was pulling him up there. And all the time Old Man Coyote was fair ly whimpering with longing for the meat he had smelled. Farmer Brown, happening to look out the window, saw Old Man Coy ote there in the dooryard. ''Gra cious!” exclaimed Farmer Brown. "Did you ever see such boldness?" (Copyright. m«.) The next story: "Hunger Destroys Fear.” loica to Commemorate Spot W here Famous Symphony If ritten Ames, la,. Feb. 10.—A movement to commemorate the spot In Iowa where Antonin Dvorak, famous music com poser and best known as author of •'Humoresque.” wrote his famous symphony, "From the New World,” has been begun by a number of music lovers of the state, led by Mrs. L>. B. Schmidt of the Iowa Conserva tion association s committee upon preservation of historic places. Mrs. Schmidt of Ames and her as sociates on the committee. Miss Lauraine Mead of Cresco, Miss Mary bliss of Iowa Falls and Mis. T. R. Jayne of Decorab, have been at work for some months to discover the true relation of Dvorak to Iowa. The conclusion of the committee is that It was in this state, at SpiUvitte in Winneshiek county, that he com pleted "From the New World.” per haps his most famous sj mphony. He is said to have told friends in the east that "the wind roiling in the Iowa prairie grasses” inspired a part of the work. William Arms Fisher, musical au thority of Boston, and a pupil of Dvorak, has written to Mrs. Schmidt that Dvorak spoke often of his sum mer near Spillville, but said ihat not until recently could he verify the actual existence of such a town. Dvorak told him. Fisher relates, that he did not write the entire symphony in this slate, but that he completed it here, and it is believed he also did a part of the orchestration In this state. Mrs. Schmidt's group has found the house which Dvorak oc cupied at SpillvIUe. How to Start the Day Wrong By Briggs WELL CLP K<P-CueeQ up “T'(H£ (AJinJTt5P*,5 Male GO^t.
