Mrs. McCormick Said „ to Be Tax Dodg er Chicago. Feb. 8 —Mrg. Edith Rncke feller McCormick, daughter of John D. Rockefeller, sr.. with Edwin Krenn and IN ward A. I'tato, her partners in a real estate firm, are made defend ants in a suit for $10,000 damages filed by Samuel Broker, consulting engineer and accountant, according to the Chicago Herald and Examiner. According to the newspaper, the declaration states that last Septem ber Broker was employed by the de fendants to devise a method to form a tajc free organization in which Mrs. McCormick might invest S15,00n,000 in stocks and bonds. Broker con ceived the idea of forming a "com mon law trust" whlrh would ob\tat« the necessity of paying federal tases and Mrs. McCormick contributed $6, 232.000 and Krenn and Bato $1,500 oath to the truft, the declaration alleges. Broker claims he was to receive >100 a day for his service* and In addition a sum commensurate with the amount of the tax saved. Lincoln, Feb. 8.—Governor Bryan I sent, an Impatient telegram today to Presldert Coolidge In which ha urges the federal government to take ac tion Immediately against tha oil In dtistry and not merely to Investigate. "I am against investigation by the federal trade commission and the at torney general's office as outlined by President Coolidge in press dispatches,” the governor said. *‘I have seen too many Investigations which resulted In no action.” In hts telegram he declared it Is the duty of the government to take over the oil Industry forthwith, to protect the public, He also refers to the 'illegal and audacious efforts of the oil Industry to control governmental action. Russian-British Parley Arranged London, Feb. 8.—Soviet Russia to day accepted Great Britain’s proposal for ah Anglo-Russian conference to draw up a treaty between the two powers.
