U. S. Sells Arms, Planes, to Obregon Large Supply of Guns and Ammunition to Be Deliv ered in 24 Hours. By Associated Prcm Washington, Jan. 4—Tbs United States government has Bold 5,000 En field rifles, model 1917; 5,000.000 rounds .30 caliber rifle ammunition: nnd eight airplanes to the Obregon government of Mexico. Secretary Weeks, in a brief state ment today, said the terms of the sale called for on#-half of the pur chase price in cash and one-half with in 80 days It was explained that the articles ramed did not Include all of those requested on the original lists Issued by the Mexican government, but that they would "meet the present re quirement*." Orders for the delivery of the mu nitions, Secretary Weeks said, would go forward within 24 hours. Arrangements have been made to turn over the ammunition ar.d rifles to Mexican representatives from the San Antonio (Tex.) arsenal and at Fort Bliss. El Paso. The airplanes will be delivered at the Fairfield (O 1 sir depot, near Day ton. This Is don# In an effort to stamp out sn epidemic of scarlet fever. TABLE ROCK—A trainload of walnut logs was pulled out of Table Rock and taken to manufacturers of furniture. This load had been picked up between Lincoln and Table Rock. There have been many other walnut logs taken from this section In the past, as well as many carloads which have been shipped out separate ly. At the rate at which they are be ing cut. walnut trees will become scarce in this country within a short time. AURORA—Political activity has be gun in Hamilton county with the fil ing by T. M. Scott, mayor of Aurora, for the position of county judge. Mr. Scott has been mayor of Aurora sev eral years and was for several term* a member of the bouse of the legis laturs from Hamilton county.
