"Everything la running ahead at full speed," said Mrs. George W. I Doane, secretary of the Associated Charities. "We are kept very busy distributing clothing, shoes, and fol lowing up the care of 300 families, who depend on the charities for much of their sustenance.” Coming as It does after the Christ mas work, unemployment la strain ing the capacity of the association to Its utmost. According to Mrs. Doane. the aim of the organization Is to “help the families to support them selves.” In the meantime, Jobs are hunted and the means of livelihood provided. "We have quite a number of men —many of them heads of families, for whom we are seeking Jobs." said Miss Harriet E. I.aney, In charge of the Omaha City mlsalon. "East year we had no difficulty to speak of In finding work for the unemployed, hut It seems surprisingly hard to find anything but temporary Joba for them this year.
