Burgess-Nash I Management Given Credit Director Says Success of Com pany in 1923 Is Due to Efficient Heads. Burgess-Nash company's increase 1n volume of business for 1923 over 1922 by more than 41 per cent Is due primarily to the enthusiasm and efficiency of the management, Mark \V. New- York, Dec. 22.—Mrs. Kath erine Ethier, for whom police have been searching since her reported disappearance on Wednesday, was found in a sanitarium today, where she had been placed for observation after her arrest on a charge of shop lifting. After working her way from Oina ha to Blarkfoot, Idaho. Anna met Jose Avila, a Mexican, whom she mar ried in Ogden, Utah, In October, 11*20. They came to Omaha and lost all of Anna's savings in a restaurant on Tenth and Mason streets. Anna again found herself in poverty and Went with her husband to the beet fields in Minnesota. Chicago, D«c. 22.—While the na tioii's tax total increased 217 per cent in the. last 10 years, 19.6 per cent of I lie total wealth Irt 1922 was exempt and beyond the reach of the tax col lector. according to figures made public today by the National Associa tion of Ural Instate Boards. Much the larger portion, or 12.9 per cent, $35,600,000,000, was exempt personal property, of which a large part was tax exempt securities. The nation s tax bill Increased from ! $2,194,000,000 In 1913 to $7,061,000,000 in 1922, according to the most careful estimates, says the association, the latter figure representing $64.63 per ite. ■ capita, or *1 TO for every person over 10 years of age gainfully employed In the country.
