Don’t Forget a Gift for the Children; Read Xmas Gift Suggestions ^ Nebraska News Nubbins WYMORE—Sherman Taylor, «r., hank president, early settler of Gage county and prominent citizen of Wy more, was taken to r Lincoln hospi tal Friday for treatment, suffering from a form of anaemia. He has been president of the Farmers and Mer chants bank of Wymore for several years. He has been dealt more than his share of bad luck in the last month, having lost a daughter, Mrs. Paul Mosely of south of Wymore, three weeks ago, and a son In Crete now- being seriously 111 following an operation, and the wife in very poor health at present. REPUBLICAN CITY—The city hall association is about to erect a two-story brick building, 24x77 feet in size, with a basement excavated 20x24 feet. The first floor is to lie used as a retail store room. The second floor is to be divided into two office rooms at the south front • of the building acout 12x12 feet in size, with an entrance hall. Bal ance of second floor to be divided into lodge room. This will be the fourth new structure erected here within nine months. TECUMSEH — Rev. Willard McCar thy, for four and one-half years pas tor of the Christian church at Tecum seh and who recently resigned the place, has accepted the pastorate of the church -at Chester. He will go to the new charge to begin work Jan uary 1. TECUMSEH.—The shareholders of Johnson County Fair association ll^mave elected officers for the year 1924 as follows: President, J. F. Kuhl man; vice president. J. H. Miller; sec retary, C. H. Brock, treasurer, J. V. Johnson: members board of manag ers, Arthur Hasenyager, John Fink and Charles Glasson. A fair will be held late In August or In September. New buildings will be put on the grounds the coming year. GIBBON—The Girl Reserves of the high school served a banquet In honor of the football team to 60 guests in the Presbyterian parlors Thursday night. Coach Claar, Howard Fredericks, the referee, and the mem bers of the first team and the substi tutes were the guests of honor. "G's" I were awarded to 32 of the 17 men. COLUMBUS—Memorial services In honor of the late Judge A. M. Post. Attorney W. A. McAllister and Col onel Michael Whttmoyer were held in the district courtroom by the mem bers of the Platte County Bar associa tion. Resolutions in memory of the former members were adopted and a number of informal addresses made by members of the bar. COLUMBUS—Pauline Walter, 18. a pupil in the eighth grade of the Emerson school, and daughter of Mrs. Mary Walter, has been awarded a pen of White Leghorn chickens of fered by George P. Wolf, president of the Platte Valley Poultry and Pet Stock association as a prize for the best essay on White Leghorn chick ens. Five pupils competed for the pen, containing four hens and a roos ter. ^^REATRICE—C. A., Whitehead of WWtr Holmesville neighborhood says he has finished husking corn and re ports a yield of 47 1-2 bushels to the acre from 47 acres. From 18 acres lie procured the big yield of 65 bush els to the acre. Although Mr. White head is past 60, he husked and cribbed between 85 and 90 bushels of cosn a day. Best single ear entered, white, a cash prize of 15 went to B. De Rock of Wymore. The prize for the liest yellow car was $r, cash to J. H. Blodgett of Adams, and the same amount went to Dean Dawson of Wymore for the liest single ear other varieties. Guy Conover of Blue Springs won $3 cash for first prize on popcorn, and C. L. Shaffer of Liberty won second B, H. Shaw of Uameston was given u prize for another variety of pop corn. Two New Portraits Adorn Iowa Historical Building Des Moines, la , Dec. 16,—Two new portraits of Iowa men of prominence In national affairs have been added to the gallery on dtoplay at the Iowa state historical building. One Is of George W. McCrary, sec retary of war during the admlnlstra tlon of President Rutherford B. Iluyes, and the other Is of James B Howell of Keokuk, who was United States senator from Iowa during the Hayes administration.
